Bet Connor cries himself to sleep most nights, dreaming about the "what if's". So, so close - best mathematical odds to become a Leaf that day.
Now all he can do is roll in his money, put on his happy Oiler face, and trudge on.

- Woderwick

Would have been something, assuming the Leafs still get Matthews of course.

I agree, though the fact that people can claim otherwise I think is an indication that they are not as far apart as people thought when they were drafted.

You never know what happens in the next 5-10 years.

McDavid plays for a terrible team though, so he's got that going for him.

- TheMussel

I cant believe that Chia is still the GM there.

If I'm Toronto/Buffalo I'm calling him everyday.

Hes bound to do something stupid, eventually.

It's crazy. The way that he curls it up and shoots from in tight to his body is ridiculous. It's enough to change the angle and really fool the (frank) out of pretty much every goalchie out there

That was a good game last night.

It could of gone either way.

Glad to see the Leafs win in a place were a W is hard to come by.

Only reason why it was tough previous was because Joey Crabb was on line 1

I'll stick with my opinion of Matthews in his first season that he is in the same category as McDavid.
In fact, I'd pick Matthews over McDavid if I'd needed to build a team around 1 player.

- plantheparade

Both are great players and i love matthews. But right now mcd is the clear number 1. Will that stay forever that way? Dunno.
However, imagine mcd in this leafs line up. Imagine a pp of mcd jt and mm, think how many pts mcd could get. Instead hes stuck on a crap team.
But goddamn, AM is so good, what a wrister.

Last night before the Leaf game started I watched the first 10 minutes of the Florida game. The stands were mostly empty. I couldn't see the upper bowl, but the lower bowl had to be only like 1/5 full. What an embarrassment. Can you imagine playing for them and seeing that? Then going on the road and seeing other fanbases??

Maybe they should remove a team or two before expanded the league further??

Chiarelli is a moron but there comes a point where he becomes self aware and it likely leads to a sort of GM paralysis from second guessing himself.

I think you're on to something, and so was Pierre Dorion at the beginning of the season.

Ottawa needs a fresh new look and to shed off the mediocrity of the Melnyk era.

The franchise needs to be sold, and then rebranded the Ottawa Team.

Nah man, just Team

Their jersey can have a logo of a jersey on it. The fans can chant 'go team go'. Announcers can say "this Ottawa Team is looking really good tonight" without making themselves look lazy.

Best of all, it makes the Pierre Dorion quote "We're a team" sound prideful and to the point, rather than pathetic.

Some here would trade Matthews AND Nylander for McDavid.

I would be very suprised if 10years from now, there would still be more people saying that McDavid is better than Matthews.

I think Matthews, as long as he stays healthy, will always be in the conversation as the best player in the league but I wouldn't be surprised if McD is the consensus #1 throughout his careeer.

I just found it hysterical that some peeps around here were adamant that AM34 + Bill Ny would be a no-brainer trade for McD.

No chance.

Boston is a top 6-7 team in the league.

When it’s all said and done the Sabres will be in the middle of the pack. I’d say a leafs/TB vs the Sabres a season a wild card team is very possible.

Agreed. Buffalo doesnt scare me in the playoffs. Especially with home ice advantage.

I don't see why not. Nothing to be gained by not playing. He needs to get into games, its injuries you don't rush and need to be patient with.

One line team with goalies that haven't proven much over a long period of time. I'll take them any day.
