Owner Mike Carcone, joined by assistant manager Sarah Beauregard, opened the Copper Branch vegan restaurant on Monday at 1040 Lansdowne St. W.

The vegan restaurant offers plant-based power food. The Montreal-based chain was founded by Rio Infantino and has locations across Ontario and Quebec, plus a few in Alberta, with plans to open a couple in France later this year.

Carcone, 22, of Oshawa, was signed by the NHL's Vancouver Canucks to a three-year entry-level deal in 2016 and has played the past two seasons with the AHL's Utica Comets.

The restaurant is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information on the restaurant, visit copperbranch.ca.

I used to work in a mall that had a taco bell beside the KFC and I'd get taco bell fries and then use the KFC gravy with them. Taco Bell used to have great fries and the gravy was excellent with them. Then I'd have a couple tacos. I might have sacrificed a year of life because of eating that every once in a while, but it was worth it.
