Then clearly we know who's got the worst drivers then.

https://www.drivesmartbc....double-solid-yellow-lines

According to this, it says it is a ticket but it's also 2009 article.
On another page it says the fine in 2017 was $109.

No argument there

Seniors driving with dogs on their laps, hit and runs in parking lots. Lot's are on meds and don't pay attention.

800 square foot homes are going for 950k here, I'm not worried

Yeah, it's freaking retarded. Having said that, there are still good buys to be had. We have a rental property downtown and there are two units for sale, both 1 bedroom, 800ish sq ft, one is $429k the othe $449k.

my parents run a non-profit animal search and rescue here on the island, and the amount of dogs that go missing after they have been unsecured (not in a crate) in the car while the car has been in an accident is surprisingly high. Old people are notoriously bad for having ankle biting dogs on their laps while driving, but the general public is just as bad for not having them crated/chipped/or on leashes when they should be.

starting to see the market go down a bit as the fixed interest rates go up (a good thing IMO), but still, its getting hard for people to buy homes on the west coast.

Don't get me wrong i love dogs but most seniors pay more attention to their pets when driving than they do on the road. Tons of accidents from this, driving into buildings, sideswiping cars, hit and runs. When I go to get groceries and such it's usually early in the day before the blue hairs take the roads over.

we have tons of little "towns" here where the average age of the population is around 70 (Sidney and Qualicum Beach). Definitely no argument when it comes older people paying more attention to their lapdogs while driving than the road itself lol

I'll let you in on a little secret, but don't tell anyone else. The Strait of Juan de Fuca is a great separator of weather systems. Victoria (and area) receives significantly less rainfall than Vancouver. I'm not saying we don't get gray days here, but there are more days of sun mixed in

Hah, thanks for the tip However, being relatively young and living in NYC, I think I'd die of cabin fever moving to the Island

I ❤️ NY, even have a T-shirt to prove it. I just don’t think I could fight through the crowds on a daily basis to get from A to B. When we travel, the Island definitely adds a complicated element (and cost) to our itinerary.

Dear god, I hope not. Maybe he's one of those pole-licking people on the train though... so maybe I've awkwardly avoided him?

Ya, the log jam of people crushing onto trains is not pleasant most mornings. Thankfully living in Brooklyn provides some relief from the slog of Manhattan.

The pros and cons of it all, though. You have way more space, but the logistics and cost to get out of it poses its own problems. I have no space, but have seen roundtrip flights to Paris for $250.

It is conceivable that by the time the teams below the Canucks catch up in games played, the Canucks will be dead last in the NHL at 30 games.

I don’t recal the exact conversation, but I’m pretty sure someone at the 20 (or 22) game mark suggested that the 3rd place Canucks couldn’t possibly slide that far down the standings in such a short period of time.

Even when Van was 5th in points, I had said this is probably still a 16-20 team and that was before the losing streak.

Most of us didn't buy into the fact this team could turn around so quickly.

If the team finishes last, that's fine.

Savor the great things EP & BB are doing.

A loss in an entertaining game is okay in my books.

Really going all in for Hughes

Honestly, if they're not going to be a playoff bubble team, I'd rather this kind of "injuries/schedule" losing streak that keeps them at the bottom of the table. The team still needs another impact player.

Would be nice, especially with the draft in Vancouver. Right now i'll just go with we'll get a good player. The lottery is not kind to us.

In the games I am watching, Bo has been the player that I have enjoyed watching grow, the most.
Brock and Elias, show flashes of some nice things, bit aren't consistent enough at this stage of development.

So much to unpack here:
1) "rewarded a salary of that magnitude is sending the wrong message to any players that have a great 1st year." - Actually, salary negotiations should be about evaluating talent and applying the contract/cap hit going forward. Identify the talent and pay them especially for a rebuilding team so as to set your cap structure for the mid-range future.

I'd rather it be forward looking based on talent, rather than the dinosaur model of paying past performance (hello louie erikson).

Signing a star player (and if you don't think boesser will get there, we can have that conversation) for a longer period requires giving higher AAV. Sure, a bridge deal is a good thing where you need further time to evaluate but it generally means you'll be paying higher contracts in a couple of years.

2) You are concerned about his health. As are we all. If you want to limit contract lengths due to these concerns, there aren't many canucks who will get more than 1 year deals.

3) "trying to actually earn their payday after proving they can be consistent by their 3rd contract.." old vs new mentality. I'd rather pay the young stars that are improving than wait for free agents and pay for past performance.

4) You would have sat Nylander. Well that's great if you're Toronto and have all the hype of a good young and entertaining team. What happens when you are a basement dwelling rebuilder that plays in an empty building?

What happens when you're the GM that is on the hot seat with a poor management track record and even worse PR image? Are you quite certain that you'd let him sit?

And hoping he gets injured? What happened to the Makita that would call out such crap like that?

- RealityChecker

Solid response.

Makita's been a bit flippant lately. Loads of sarcasm. Now that he's a MOD, some of the behaviour on here has frustrated him I think. Changed his narrative.

Another close loss on Tuesday, but I did enjoy what Josh Leivo brought to the table.

Not sure why this team doesnt start auditioning the defensemen in Utica.
MDZ Pouliot and Biega aren't hard to replace.
