the most disappointing part for me is that he was soft as butter, for a guy who was "the Marchand of the WHL" I was hoping he'd at least agitate and stir some poop up once in awhile. - Nucker101
You can be a rat in a league where being 5'10 means you're average sized.
Need bigger balls to do that in a league where 70% of the league can backhand you without trying.
Tons of dudes are rats and edgy in junior but after they're fed one or two meals in the pros they don't have the nuts to keep doing it. Jake's a bit similar. Used to always stir it up and take his runs, then he got tuned up by Farnham and seems completely disinterested anytime someone who can look him in the eye grabs him by the collar. |

I think if Granlund was kept in his lower end role there is a space for him on a number of teams.
But watching him elevated in the lineup so often just confuses me. Jake has an off shift, he's down the line up or off the PP. Goldy doesn't cover defensively on a 1 on 3 board battle and he's out.
Dude's a bit more useful than Loui but they're basically the same player offensively. NB just seems to love him on the second PP unit and for whatever reason he gets the tap for extra attacker it seems. - Lindenis#1
I'd go
1st Unit: EP - Brock - Bo - Leivo - Hutton
2nd Unit: EP - Brock - Goldy - Virtanen - Stecher/Edler
having scrubs like LE and Granlund out there is pointless

I'd just like to see Gaudette in his triggerman spot. He played it excellently in college and well in the AHL. But for whatever reason, NB has had him net front more times than I'd like to count with a (frank)ing LH shot in the triggerman spot.
I think Virtanen might have some use in the bumper as well but again, when he gets a chance on the PP he sits net front despite never showing he's much of a garbage man.
Horvat
Gaudette-Boeser-Pettersson
Edler
Boeser isn't a one time threat. He doesn't really have a clapper either. Think he has 2 career goals off onetimers/slapshots. Might be time to readjust and see how your best wrist-shot shooter looks sitting in the slot all game. |

I thought about Gaudette as well, but man his confidence seems low, I'd worry that he'd be conservative on the PP as well and maybe overpass the puck despite being in Brock's current triggerman spot.

Maybe
But it could also be the pat on the back he needs to put in any sort of a run |

Caught the hi lites:
Nilsson brutal on the winner much like Luongo style.
Good to see Leivo score though and Pettersson get a point.
So...Is pettersson going to put this team on his back and start scoring or what? - LordHumungous

Can you blame him? Play well and he may get an extra shift.
Schaller and Motte get points and they both play less than 10 minutes. Need someone to help out on face-offs and Beagle plays 8:33

Oil are a helluva lot closer to the PO's than we are. We weren't 60 min away from the conference finals not 2 seasons ago either lol.
Just want to see some push from Pettersson like Barzal pushed on last year. |

Islanders last season weren't a bad team, they just had the worst goaltending in the league. Might explain why losing Tavares and they are still in a playoffs spot right now.
Getting Trotz might have helped that too. |

not deserved by any means. |

IMO, high lights do not show a true representation of the game, Nilsson was not the reason, it was a chase the puck carrier and allow multiple cross ice passes for basically easy PP goal, not Nilsson’s fault. Disfunctional defending issue.
And yes Pettersson did get a point but was no where near carrying the team or even the play....same as Boeser. - Makita
I think it is a joke when people say Boeser gets 7 mil next year. Not even close.

Why's that?
Second year in the NHL he is scoring at a 70 point a season pace.
74 points in 88 career games.
Nylander just got 6.9 from 2- 61 point seasons.
If cap goes up to 83 as rumoured. Same cap % as Pastrnak would put Boeser at 7.3 AAV

How is it not even close? Show me why he shouldn't get 7 plus. Cap goes up every year. That means salaries go up every year. |

the new nhl, salary is based on potential , and how shiny and young you are.

If you want to pay someone who will end up with 20 goals 7 mil then fill your boots . I wouldn't .

Patches has never broken 70 points and 5 years 7 million.
JVR 7 million never broken 70 points.
Evander Kane 7 million never broken 60 points. |

Nylander played two full seasons with no injuries.
'if' Brock can play this season out without injury things might change but with this roster support do you really see him at 70+ points? Pettersson maybe... |

Players now a days that are near a PPG that are young like him are getting into the 8's 9's |

Yet all of those players got paid that money for doing it consistently, over several seasons, Brock on the other hand, will have approximately, 1.5 seasons under his belt, when he is up for a new contract.
I agree with Vantel, Bo money. |
