can we just collectively agree to stop suggesting trades for 31 year olds that will cost a (frank) ton
- robz228

Anisimov or Frans Neilson won’t . If the Blues are looking to tear it down I’d move some bodies for Schwartz. I’d ask the Kings about Kempe but I’d assume he’s untouchable.

i can understand the appeal of players like that, but i just cant fathom why people want to re-do the oreilly trade for someone older and on a worse contract

got a good player but set us back for reasons. why the hell do it again.

McDavid.....
- ImThatGuy

I don't know if McD is even top 10 for goal scorers.

Anisimov's contract isn't bad at all, imo. $4.5 mil for 2 more years

I'd go Sobotka, a pick and a prospect. He would be an excellent upgrade imo

Does anyone think ROR would be having success like he is this year If he was still a Sabre?
He seems to have always shined on failing teams eh?

- lulags

Not sure, better question is does anyone think the Sabres would be having the success we are this year if he was still on the team...

question: which is a better draft year 2019 or 2020?

I'm thinking the Blues sucking, and keeping this year's pick, could end up benefiting the Sabres in a big way in the long run. Especially if they start tearing it down and blow again next year.

Absolutely not

I liked ror, but clearly he's a problem. The whole "winning games" issue with him.

There are two seperate points being made about ROR as I see it:

1.) We'd be better with him on the team because he's an excellent 2nd line center

and

2.) We'd be worse because his personality is terrible

I don't agree with either

To point 1, if we hadn't traded him, we would have had to go to the bargain basement shop to get players for the bottom 6 - maybe Nolan comes back, someone else, idk. As it stands, the 3 roster players that add up to his salary could not have been fit obviously, so you're replacing them with a Nolan/Criscuolo type. I do agree he's a very good 2nd line center.

To point 2, I still hate that he was blamed for the struggles here, and now he's being blamed for the struggles there. It's no surprise that his points are better now that he's not playing with Wilson. The Blues suck for a lot of reasons. The Oilers missed the playoffs with McDavid. We've been over this

So no, i don't think the team would be better with him on it, and no i don't think that's his fault.

one last thought:

He's gone and he's never coming back. Holy (frank)

It seems to be a bit of a toss up, but 2020 may take the edge in elite talent. Hard to say when the 2020 kids, half of them are playing Midget hockey still.

Lafenriere (sp?) is thought to be the next McDavid whereas Hughes is not. That's only top pick though. It seems that 2019 may have more forward depth and 2020 will have the higher end talent at the start of the 1st round.

Edit: As with any draft there will be good players to be had. We want STL pick to be the lowest I think rather than worrying about year. I hope they're 11th this year or win the lotto next year lol.

if one players attitude can make the entire team lose when they'd otherwise be winning, then the entire team is full of losers

Agree, he's been taking advantage of his opportunities when called up to the top line. He needs to keep it up. We need him over that 60pt mark if we are a playoff team.

With the 4 1sts in the next two drafts, there is some reason to say we can stand pat and get a heck of a team together.

However, at some point we'll need to add or do a 2 for 1 deal. Not saying it's now, but all depends on price.

We also need Okposo to do better than 14g and 27 assists

Or find a neurologist in July who says he can't play anymore
