I might be interperting this incorrectly, but it sounds like Fletcher is interested in giving players like Hart and Myers a shot before making trades. But it sounds also sounds like the defense and goaltending are the areas he wants to improve, and I don't agree with that. IMO if you want to improve the team defense, get some forwards that you can match as defensive assignments and can improve the PK. It will take 3 guys and you will likely have to eat the salaries of Weise and Lehtera while Lindblom might be sent to LV. I wouldn't mind a vet goalie coming in to split time with Elliot when he is healthy, like Anderson.

My concern with Fletcher is his track record in Minnesota of trading prospects from the farm system for veterans with long term contract. I don't want to go back to the days of trading for players past the prime such as Paul Coffee, Tony Amonte, Daryl Sittler, ect.

Who knows, you can play a great game, but run into a hot goalie and lose. You can play a poor game and your goalie stands on his head and the other guy gives up 2 softies. I don't think they go 6-0-0, nor do I see them going 0-6-0, but pretty much anything in the middle is possible.

Carter doesn't have a nmc, Simmonds has a list (I'm pretty sure LA is on that list).

Flyers would probably have to sweeten the deal with a prospect but I could see a trade like this happening. Martinez could be an option too.

Unless it's for a quality goalie, Center or Dman that fits in with the age of the core, I dont see Simmonds going anywhere until closer to the TDL.

Morin hasn't played a lot of hockey and is going to need time to get his game back. Not likely to be ready to step right in. MacDonald when healthy and playing as he is capable calms the defense down.

We don't want to sign Simmonds but want a 33 year old Carter for 3 more years after this. No thanks.

I don't want three more years of Carter, and I doubt the Flyers would acquire him, but I will say this: That dude can still kill penalties and win faceoffs

He'll probably still be able to score 15-20 goals on the back end of that
