I would agree with this. He will probably be playing in Europe this time next year. Seems like a good guy, just never took the extra steps to get better.
- Glak18

I think he plays with max effort and works his tail off. Can see that he wants to be an NHL player. Just doesn't have the ability.

Maybe hakstol is the right coach for some of you.

I’d rather develop potential talent and have them learn how to play against the best than fill roster spots with trash while the talent learns how to play against lesser talent.

If they are physically ready, having them learn the ahl game just teaches them how to outplay ahl players.

And snicker all you want about my opinion of Morin, but tell me what the flyers have benefitted from handling him how they have? If he was up 2 years ago when he should have been, at least they would know if they an nhl defensemen or not instead of either my optimistic opinion or your arrogant ones.

The absolute worst way to develop players and to make sure they won't reach their potential is to throw them to the wolves and play in situations that they are not ready for. For most players, it comes in steps. Most young players need to be sheltered early.

The reason we don't know if Morin is an NHL defenseman is due to injuries. Not how he has been handled.

I think so too. It’s also an odd 24 hours later move since coming into office. Replacing one coaching assistant?

I recall he lost an opening night spot to a numbers game last year. Too many righty's on the blue line if I recall. I don't recall him having injury plagued seasons. He'll be back this year and he will be an NHL defensemen.

In my opinion, Weal is at best a 13th forward in the NHL. Can't produce well enough to play on a scoring line and brings little else to the ice. I wouldn't be surprised if Weal's NHL career is going to be over within a year or so. Maybe sooner.
- MJL

Yes, as a known Weal-hater this is on point for you. I’ll say what I have said before also. Weal’s problem is a fit issue. You can’t expect him to be what he is not. He would be a good right wing paired with a 2-way center on a third line with a Raffl type left wing. He would produce at nearly half point per game average. The center experiment was a total flop. He just doesn’t have the size needed and isn’t able to compensate. He is a complementary player who cannot carry a line over multiple games. He is hardly as bad as you make him out to be though.

So your saying because he was injured in an ahl game that he would also been injured on the same date in an nhl game? When did you receive your degree in temporal mechanics?

Also 90 percent of the fan base expected Morin to start that game against la instead of hagg. He outplayed hagg Macdonald and manning that preseason. Our genius coach for some reason chose the little Macdonald clone hagg.

The arrogance of some posters in here is amazing. They bash others opinions and assume theirs is law. How many “we love hakstol” chants have you heard at the arena? Whose opinion strays farther from common view?

I always felt like Morin played better than Sanheim during camp 14 or 15 months ago. It wasn’t until the second half of last season that Sanheim looked like he belonged, after his second call up.

“According to the Flyers, Fletcher and Hakstol worked together on the hiring as Wilson is a former assistant coach at North Dakota where Hakstol coached for 11 years.

“I’ve know Rick for a long time, both professionally and personally,” Hakstol said. “The game runs in his veins,”

Hopefully Wilson can have an immediate impact on the struggling Flyers defense. ”

I felt bad for Sam but seeing Sanheim develop last year softened the blow. I think he continues to improve.

And that is exactly how the process of hiring assistants should be handled.

I don't hate players. I make informed and objective opinions on players. He's not a regular NHL top 9 forward in this league in my opinion. He plays an AHL caliber game that does not translate to the NHL.

Imagine people complaining about a team currently sitting in 15th place in the conference? Unbelievable, they are never satisfied.

The Ottawa game was in Philadelphia and they blew a 2 goal lead with 8 minutes left in the game. Giving up 3 unanswered goals to come away with no points. That is an absolute disgrace.

But they were allowed pizza and wings after the game

That’s a win in their book

I wasn't being arrogant on Morin. You are assuming he doesn't get hurt if he wasn't in the AHL last year. That's a reach cause the first injury happened in the NHL and lingered through the season. Then when they tried to get him games in the AHL playoffs he got hurt in a freak incident that could have happened anytime. 2 NHL games do not give a good measure if he was truly ready. I'd love to have Sam with the Flyers but only if he's healthy and productive which NO ONE not even the Flyers brass can say for sure right now where he stands.

Okay, here is an actual example of him in the role I suggested. Left wing, but still...he would be better at right wing. Try to be objective.

I agree Morin is going to need time, but a wounded, inexperienced Morin is still better than a healthy Macdonald, Hagg, or Folin.

Yup..That Ottawa game is horrible and truly IMO one of the low points of the season.

Of course you didnt mention it but the next game was a high level quality 4-2 win against the Pens in Pittsburgh.
