Anybody have an opinion on Pettersson tonight? I thought he was not good....of course he spent most of the last two days flying so it's fair to take that into consideration.

You don't see the difference between hitting through the chest of a player with no head contact vs hitting through the numbers and clipping the head?
- taleisyreXIII

exactly. shoulder on shoulder. No contact to the head. At real speed, it appears the hit happened ~1 sec after wilson moved the puck, which is not insanely late. Think optics are at play here. Wilson had his head turned, looking the other way, and was not at all braced for contact. His body reacted accordingly.

I think they'll be consistent in this case and not suspend him. It was pretty damn close to what Wilson did last week. I have a feeling Reaves phone will be blowing up tonight with a bunch of thank you's.

It’ll at least make for a good interview on Chiclets later this season.

New system and partners on top of that. Tough to just hop in in a game like that. I didn’t see any glaring mistakes.

Not to mention playing a team like the Avs. I'm blown away by that team....not just the speed, but the precision with which they play. Gonna watch them every chance I get. Mckinnon should be considered right up there with McD and Mathews.

I like the trade

If your a Duck fan you do. Pens never gave this AHL star a chance, and in return received a 6/7 D man

Right? The puck was long gone. It was as dirty and late if a hit as Wilson does. But just because the hits on Wilson everyone’s like “oh yeah. Good hit. Good hit.” Get the (frank) out of here clowns.
- j.boyd919

Your the clown. That’s how hockey should work. If Wilson played against more Reaves he wouldn’t be Wilson. I for one don’t care if it’s late dirty clean, Reaves was obviously going after Wilson all game and it’s a job well done. He should get a bonus.

There are multiple hits Reaves put on Wilson in that game. Only one was dirty, but like I said Reaves plays for a coach that is no wussy. Hopefully he gets tomorrow off.

Didn't hear his name much besides mentioning he was playing... guess that's a good thing in no big mistakes.

Didn't see the Reaves hit until this mourning. It was almost a replica of the Wilson hit on Suveny. Reardon called Wilson's hit incidental. Therefore I would call Reaves hit incidental also as the intentions of both men were the same.

Good to see most of you don't actually care that it was a bad hit because it was on Wilson...

He definitely should be. He's the second fastest player in the league with the puck on his stick behind McD. He has great hands, good passer, good shot. I love watching him play.

As much as I hate any one player, I never want to see any serious career-ending/career-altering injuries and I mean that. This IMO was a dose of his own medicine.

I haven't seen someone as dangerous as him since Raffi Torres who really just didn't give a (frank).

Spot on. Precision is a perfect word to describe this team. They actually remind me of the 15/16 cups team. They talked about the speed and while they had some fast players, it was more the speed in which they attacked with the puck and made plays. Lightning fast crisp tape-to-tape passes that were just too quick for teams to defend against.

Also, how about Nieto? I never really got too much of a look at him on SJ, but this guy is fast and strong. How did SJ let him go?

Oh karma for sure and anyone defending Wilson is a complete moron but this Reaves hit was nothing that resembled a clean hit either.

Decent 4th line guy.

Ended up on waivers because:

Nieto, who has two assists in 16 games this season, has only been been in the lineup for three of the last 16 games as other young wingers such as Kevin Labanc and Timo Meier have come up from the AHL and made a noticeable impact as first-year professionals.

100%. It's funny, I saw a new angle that made it look clean, but that goes to show you how angles can really obscure the truth in hockey. When looking at that hit from behind it almost looks like he hits him in his rib cage and people will use that bullpoop.

This is the same as the people who argued Wilson's hit on ZAR was clean. Same argument, it hit his chest not his head. When you look from behind, it looked like it was almost shoulder to shoulder.

15 goals last year. Not bad for a 4th liner. I just like his all-around game. He's the kind of 4th line guy I wish the Pens had.

I'm not someone who fixates on the size or physicality of a player, but when you have a big guy who has that kind of speed I'll discount some scoring prowess to have him on my team. Makes a 4th line much harder to play against.

Point of impact on this one doesn't even matter to me. It was a late hit with intent to injure.

If it saves another hockey player's career......which it just might, I think it was a great thing. Wison's career isn't going to end by this, but it's possible he changes the way he plays. I'm not holding my breath because it's obvious Wilson isn't too bright.

He shot almost double his career average sh% wise last season. Very likely won't happen again.
