Exactly. Plus there is zero 'mentorship' value with Tanev/Edler. There's a bit with Sutter but he's not healthy enough anymore for it to really make a difference. Gotta move on from all 3.

The issue here is that the Canucks are the sucker team that bought these guys before their values went even lower and it'll make the GM look even worse if he trades them for more scrubs.

I'm expecting them to try and unload MDZ for anything they can, but that's about it when it comes to dmen being sold. Unless Edler changes his mind about. his NTC.


I do find it funny that the same people who want to trade Edler and/or Tanev are the same ones who say they expect the team to be competitive next year. Good luck with that. I want to move Edler, but I'm still expecting the team to suck next year unless the roster adds multiple quality players.

I agree. I think Edler is probably going to be resigned (short term deal) as we don't have anyone to replace him. When Hughes and Juolevi make the team, I wouldn't mind them being paired with Edler and Tanev. I think Tanev can still teach a lot to a young player, even if he isn't overly vocal. His actions on the ice, when he's not injured - young guys could learn a lot from him.
