Pretty bad when PP2 looks a million times better than PP1 |

Playing against us is so easy. Put pressure on the puck carrier so he forces a turnover because we can’t pass for poop. |

Maybe Coburn will freight train Lovejoy tonight. |

They give it away and best as can do is a lovejoy backhand from the blue line. We turn it over right after and in 3 seconds it's in... |

It was $8 for a ticket to this game at 4:45pm in Stubhub. My son refused to go because he had hockey practice. Smart decision. |

Huh...
So, to you NJ fans, what do you think needs to be done with the team?
I was really impressed with you guys in the playoffs last year. But, this doesn't feel like the same high-speed, no-brakes squad. |

Needs better development. Young core stagnated. Last year Bratt, Butcher, and Hischier came along, and Miles Woods had broken out as a player, not to mention Hall stepping up as an all star. This year, down the board, most the young guys regressed. Coleman is really the only player on the team that took a step forward.
Second thing is playing to their identity: and you are exactly right, they are not the "stretch the neutral zone" kind of team anymore. John Hynes seems to think he's coaching last year's Washington Capitals: the Devils are trying to become a zone pressure team (dump, chase, win puck battles, block shots in own end and collapse), and they don't have the defence to play that way.
Basically look at Colorado Roy year 1 and Colorado Roy year 2, and that's the NJ Devils right now. Roy made his skating team into a zone pressure team (to succeed in the playoffs) and they failed miserably at the task. |

That is as astute of a comparison and overall explanation as you'll ever see on HockeyBuzz.

No. While I liked watching the playmaking between Gomez and Jagr that team was too old, had zero depth and had almost no prospect of getting better. Watching guys like Zubrus at the end was painful. This team has youth and speed. They can take some steps and become very competitive. Maybe if they spent a few dollars on free agency and could find a reliable goaltender.... |

All we need to do to get better is trade everyone on our team for everyone on your team. I mean maybe you guys keep Ryan Callahan and we keep Blake Coleman.... but yeah. That would get it done.
Also that includes coaches. Just want to be clear.
