Hawks need to hire Hossa as a Coach. He’d teach these floaters how to play 200ft hockey AND command respect from the locker room.
- EnzoD

Not a bad idea , wondered if he could be tough enough on the players. BEST HAWK EVER.

I think "Eddie O " would be a viable option to become our GM. He knows Rocky and knows more about the flaws of the current Hawks, has ton of GM connections and knows the game.
- spanky

Why because he is a colourman on tv? Maybe Burish then?

JC was somehow playing Gus insanely high minutes. What this meant is that for almost half of every game the players on the ice with Gus were scrambling as Gus would invariably be out of position. So, of course, the Hawks looked better with Gus out.

Agree. Kunitz took his place on screwing us though.

Kurashev and Barratt are amazing this year. I did not expect them to be so productive, at least not so soon. It's hard to say what is their ceiling in the NHL, but Hawks are missing impact forwards in the system and it is nice to see them doing well. Entwistle is also a nice piece to have.

BTW Hillman, I know Rockford has a lot of dmen to choose from, but wasn't he a frequent healthy scratch so far?

- stonefire

Hillman: no. Only the first week of season. Gilbert had been the guy as a scratch....but not lately for him.

Breadman - hard to imagine Kunitz hurting the Hawks any more if he was paid to do it. Just incredible.

Hawks are fading fast as they are now the 3rd worst team point wise in the league, and both teams under them have played less games. I say just embrace the tank at this point and go all in for Jack Hughes.

Maybe if the Gus situation is resolved.......then welcome to the continuing Manning saga ,the Murphy's law(but the boss was wrong and Blackhawk version will move Murphy). And who knows what else after Anisinov too.

One player many dislike is Rutta. Yet he had a toughen up game last game
Bomb of a shot. Maybe he slides by unscathed this year? Well if he stops sight seeing as much as has been true.

What's that you might see.....a Rockford dman summoned? This season before they are ready.

This defense i reger a famous line.to "That's amother fine mess you got us into, Stanley."

Is it not Oliver talking? No mater, it was to be expected with salary cap hell causing dismantle. The team has not been strong enough for more playoff runs. Gallant effort, Stan, but some of your transactions led to the team's awful shape this season.

I will say that I totally expected Gus to get chance again last year or this season. When Oesterle showed well initially, figured he too will harner a draft choice. But I never expected Gus to play this style of defense. Not sure why or what his reasoning is.

Does he want to be like Karlsson on San Jose? Coach blessing as looking for offense with Kane
Not exactly, right?

Oh, btw I am certain that Stan is methodicaly going to move veterans now and up through Seattle expansion. Bear down Blackhawks fans the light at the end of the tunnell [playoffs] comes not long after expansion. By then several prospects have begun wearing the Chicago Indian Head sweater

Meanwhile about the defense

The defense is sort of like soft scrambled eggs. How do you like this analogy?

JC played Gustafsson 27 mins a couple games ago and then he was a healthy scratch last game.

Who's running the show here? They need to just let this guy coach. Oh... and Stan needs to give him a better roster.

What you say about this proposal if Chicago gets the #1 pick -

Trade the #1 pick and Seabs to Van for Petterson and either Tanev or a top d prospect in their org.

I think if it was the #1 pick alone you could get VAN to add, but getting them to take Seabs too likely means less comes back.

The biggest threat in the tank standings is Vancouver. After a fast start, that team is fading fast. However, back to back games against us would probably provide a quick temporary fix for that.

Plain and simple, bottom line, keep the pick! How many times are you going to get a number one overall pick? And if this kid Hughes is everything what they say. That decision should be made for Stan Bowman. But then again we are talking about Stan Bowman!

I doubt that Vancouver would make that trade. Hawks would need to give up more to get them to take a big contract and give up Petterson.

JL - it is a very strange Bench with Colliton surrounded by the Front Office Ghoul Granato and Scotty’s Minion Smith. Hope Colliton is actually in charge.

Was hoping Colliton had finally just came to his senses regarding Gus.

Just hold on there Bubbalouie!
Imagine this:
-Canucks already own Quinn Hughes
-Canucks are hosting the 2019 draft
-Canucks have a glorious chance to unite the Hughes brothers in front of their fans (ala the Sedins)
Don't kid yourself because Stan would be handed a blank cheque for that first overall.

Never say never. Wrong sport, but the Celtics traded the #1 pick for Robert Parish long ago. And trading Lindros ultimately worked out for the Nordiques/Avs franchise.

I think if it were a balanced trade (picks/prospects/contracts to make it even) a trade with Vancouver centered around the #1 (Jack Hughes) ++ for Vancouver's own #1 pick, Petterson, ++ would make absolute sense for both sides.

Vancouver unites an elite duo of brothers and extends their window with getting younger.
Chicago expedites their own new top prospect making the NHL in order to keep the window open for Toews/Kane/Chi's older core.

That's all great, but to expect them to just take the #1 and Seabrook all while giving us their best young offensive star and an additional prospect or roster dman isn't likely to happen. Hawks would need to add more IMO.

I don't necessarily think we should include Seabrook's dump in that deal... he means too much to the core / locker room and we've already cleared enough cap space.
Its the internal equivalent of trading our captain.
I say dump Anisimov and/or Murphy/Manning/Gus instead if we need to balance salary...

Agree. While the Cap hit is high, it’s more the term...but the Hawks are set up pretty well with the Cap going into this offseason and next.
