So let me get this straight...
UG is concerned that Andersen is facing 5 more shots 3 or 4 times a week and that will burn him out.
On the other hand the Leafs should be playing Rielly on the PK and if they aren't it has to be because he isn't great defensively... when he already plays #1 PP and his shift.
Anyone else see the (frank)ing problem with these arguments?
Then he compares careers of vastly different lengths and stats from different eras.
Jesus, I wish the daily clown show around here would stop, or just go away.

Right Kapanen. And SIX more.
So, hypothetical amounts
Matthews - $11M
Marner - $9M
Kapanen - $3M
Gardiner - $7M
$30M
Leafs $9 million for 6 depth players?
Seems doable. I thought it was a certinaly Marleau would be gone, but maybe that's not the case? - prock
Ouch, 7 million per for gardiner...too pricey for the leafs.
5.5 max for gardiner or he have to let him walk |

Might as well get them to send over Kovalchuck too. |

seems realistic.... although I'm guessing Marner gets Draisaitl money, and Matthews gets a hair more than $11.
I don't see Gardiner getting $7m from anyone, certainly not from the Leafs.... maybe 6M on a shorter term deal, similar to what Shattenkirk got.
I'm guessing they try to bring Hainsey back at $1M / year or thereabouts - unless they acquire someone at the TDL with a bit of term.
perhaps a Muzzin acquisition - he's got another year 4M/per until end of 2019/2020 season
perhaps a McQuaid - believe he's a free agent in 07/2019

If Dubas had traded Leivo for a #1 RHD who could put up 60 points and play 1:20 of each PK, we could retire this subject and start focusing on the backup goalie dilemma again.
Oh, and that defenceman should be making league minimum for the next 11 years. |

We know that they are here, but they rarely do anything. UG is careful not to violate the CoC, even though he is annoying he technically isn't doing anything wrong. Or so I have been told by refs. |

UG is the king of strawman arguments. he quickly moves on or starts arguing a different point once he has nothing left to stand on.

You know what’s probably an easy solution to some cap issues?
Signing Marner to a 6 year deal and only Matthews to 8.
Give Marner his money when the JT contract and Z contract is over. - Santo_44
I think they both may end up at 5 and we can maybe get away with a little less amount as we won't be buying any UFA years.
That would mean all 3 are up for new contracts that same year, but we will have a better idea of who we *have* to keep and/or whether or not we can really afford all 3. We'll also have a better idea how successful the group has been, and what really does need to be addressed |

I have an alternative to the ban hammer in mind.
But would require the Refs allowing us to "police ourselves" to some degree. |

I personally don't think Gardiner returns. Leafs have a board somewhere where he's not in the top 6 and have a list of names to that would fill in for him. - TheMussel
I'll take that bet
I think they re-sign him. |

I think you might want to take a look around the league and see what $5.5M buys you in UFA. It's really not very good.
Danny DeKeyser? Justin Schultz? Alex Goligoski? Jeff Petry. - prock
Gards has grown on me. I still don't like him though. I think I would look elsewhere if he asked to be closer to the Ryan Ellis contract. |
