Stupid Petry and his no movement clause.
- Scabeh

Yeah, that’s when it becomes annoying.

Luckily the Leafs likely only need to protect Rielly, Dermott and Gardiner(or his replacement).

Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Kadri - Matthews - Nylander
Brown - Marleau - Kapanen
Johnsson - Lindholm - Ennis

would like to see these lines - at least for a few games.
I think those 2 top FW lines would be deadly, with Kadri providing some physicality to Matthews' line.
That third line would be very interesting as well; not sure though whether Marleau was not a fan of playing center again...(?)

I don't think you are mathing correctly.

Pasternak gets $40,000,000 over 6 years.

- Atomic Wedgie

My math is there ....WN gets $40,017,623 over the next 6 years (actually dollars).

His 10.2 is pro-rated this year to about $7 milly ....see Capfriendly.

from Ek comments,

jake gardiner + Dakota Joshua + conditional 3rd in 2019

for

Parayko

the 3rd is upgraded to a 2nd if the Leafs make the SCF
the 2nd is upgraded to a 1st if the Leafs win the Cup!.

Well I'd say some teams played the last expansion very poorly and ended up losing much more than that.
- Scabeh

Teams that made deals with Vegas to not take players was stupid yes.

Other than that no team was harmed by it.

The caps won the cup without Schmidt

The Penguins were still the Penguins without Fluery

The Preds were still the Preds

Exactly!

Interesting fact ...

Actual dollars in his pocket for Nylander will be ...

Year 1 = $7,017,623
Years 2-6 = $33,000,000
Total = $40,017,623

So Willie got $17,623 more than Pasternak ...plus a 2 month extended vacation.

- The Law

And how did you come up with those #'s?
According to Capfriendly, total signing bonuses are $24.3M, and total base salary are $20.7M. Haven't seen anyone giving other #'s than that. How come his total salary is not 45M...?

Leivo 4 goals in 20 some games? He would have beaten willie to a pulp in a barfight. Big strappy guy.

The story that I heard was that they asked for him to lay out his plan for going forward.

He came into the boardroom, gave a presentation that had little to no details, and acted the entire time like it was a giant inconvenience to him to have to do this.

He was let go shortly thereafter.

- Atomic Wedgie

that's very plausible.
And now we get to hear him poop talk the Leafs as another media boob.

I've made a simulation for the Habs.

If things remain the same, we're likely to lose one of Mete or Juulsen.

- Scabeh

Maybe Weber? Not..

Very true.

We were thinking of hanging on to Leivo for our bar fight league, but then we remembered that no such thing exists.

Sucks to see Leivo go but it was inevitable. His arb rights combined with his production this season with limited ice time ensured he was getting at least $1.5m, and then becoming a UFA and obviously leaving for nothing as we don't have the space for him.

Capfriendly ...it shows his daily cap rate ..which is based on his actual pro-rated dollars for 18/19.

And actually my math was wrong ...he got 2 milly in bonus plus 10 milly (pro rated) in salary. So that's about 8.6 milly in real dollars this year plus the 33 milly over the next 5 years. So thats $41.7 in actual dollars in his pocket.

So 1.7 milly plus a 2 month vacation more than Pasternak.

The 10.2 is cap hit ....so WN is a real cost of about 7 million against the cap this year.

yeah, he should get about ~67% of those 10M in year 1 + the 2M in signing bonus.
so, about $41.7M in pocket money for Willie. ~6.95M per...!

Kappy is openly saying he wants to play LW on the top line

i (frank)in love this guy. If he transitions to LW flawlessly that line will be super (frank)ing dangerous..

Hayes (mimicking babs): You wanna play LW? Go play with the GOAT on the 4th line..

Hayes (mimicking Kap): Nah, actually im more of a RW'er
