Leafs send dermott down.
They have to waive or trade someone to make room for nylander. - bryant
I don't understand this move at all. |

Hearing the #leafs have sent Travis Dermott to the AHL Marlies to make room for William Nylander on the 23-man roster. However, it's just a temporary loan after Nylander's contract was approved today. I'd be surprised if Dermott didn't play against Buffalo on Tuesday. |

Buys more time I think. He’s exempt from waivers. They’ll bring him back up for Tuesday I’m sure. |

Okay that makes more sense.
Actually demoting him is asinine. Buyout Hainsey before you actually waive Dermott. |

Doubt Dermott misses any games but they should just send Ennis down so he can play with the Marlies where he belongs. If he gets claimed, they lose nothing. |

Everyone just needs to report the Richardrash to CaptEO.
I have no idea why he was reinstated, but he needs to be gone.
He's forever a dumb wiener; that isn't gonna chance. |

Dallas' D has a combined cap hit of $7.5m and their goalie is $5m. Man that leaves a lot of room for some decent forwards. |

"Breaking - Hockeybuzz waives UG. He doesn't even belong on the Marlies, but perhaps the local toronto japan camera beer league needs somebody."

Actually Lumlums its more about who they can send down without having to go through waivers. They're actually huddled right now trying to figure out which 3rd or 4th liner is injured right now.

It's strange though - they don't need to send anybody down right now to save cap, They must be using the couple of extra days as extra cap space for the deadline.
They need to send somebody down, but no need to bring them back up. Goodbye, goat. |

One older D man I like is Shea Weber. If only Montreal would eat half his contract. |

There could also be a trade in the works, there are extra bodies, and Gauthier being a former 1st rounder, albeit a stinky one, could get a small return rather than sending him down or losing him. Doubt very much he is in the long range plans anymore. Lindholm is better as a fourth line c.

If you can get even a bag of wasabi peas for Goat, you do it immediately.
Edit: If we can get even a bag of mushy peas for UG, we have to do it right away. Such a dumb wiener |

Doubt he is traded - he's been paid all of his huge bonuses in his ridiculous contract now and is owed only $6 million in salary for this year and 3 more years at $6M. Then $3 M for one year and $1M for the last three years - which takes him to age 41. If he retires - Nashville takes on the $7.857M cap hit per year for the remainder of the contract - with no relief at all for the Preds. Montreal will be blackmailing the poop out of Nashville at some point, because there is no (frank)ing way Weber will honor the last 3 years of that deal.

He'll be traded this year, doubt its for less than a fourth rounder. And I agree we should take it. As for UG, we might have to add to pick for someone to take him.

I'm not the biggest fan of Gauthier but trading him to open a roster spot doesn't make sense with Ennis sitting right there. The Marlies need the help and Gauthier is at least young enough that he could improve a little over time. |

Gauthier - like Peter Holland before him has been given ample opportunities. He's a giant that plays like a 90lb weakling. Time to cut bait, he stinks and should be gone. Ennis at $650K is useful on the 4th line, has 4 goals and 8 points with limited ice time. Gauthier has scored 3 assists in 22 games.

59 career games is hardly ample opportunities. Never been given a full season in the NHL. He's younger and bigger. The potential isn't high but he's certainly the better option to keep over Ennis. Ennis has been lucky to score 4 goals, mostly flukes. Ennis should be the goner. |
