Wrong. They can definitely trade Nylander to improve the team defense. Fitting that defender isn't necessarily an issue if they're smart about it.

They can afford Pietrangelo. Nylander + Brown = Pietrangelo extension (And one year at 6.5 next year which is very advantageous too). Let Hainsey walk, they might even be able to fit Gardiner too using Hainsey's money. Or let Gardiner walk and replace him with an ELC.
