Would it have been better to sign him for 500k less? Sure. That's easily recouped by not overpaying on depth though. 12th forward, extra winger, 7th dman, backup goalie.. all spots where you can save by filling with rookie or league minimum contracts. See: Pittsburgh.

Nylander will be playing with Matthews for years. He will blow past 70 easily.

Reinhart hit 50 once in 4 full seasons. Nylander in his first 2 full seasons has 2 60 point seasons.

The Blackhawks have a lot to look forward to. Several young faces including 2 top D prospects are coming up. Alex Debrincat who was taken with a second round pick is looking like a complete star. The Blackhawks are finally out of cap hell and will probably trade away most of it's core to contending teams (maybe even your franchise) for picks and players. Panarin wants to come back and will get 8 million.

Listen, it’s not rocket science to see that Kyle craved, first off 7 million for your 6th best player on the wing? Second, trade him and get an anchor on your back end that would help you make a playoff run. Because at your current state, mr Andersson is going to be bagged again like the last couple years.(over played). Third, maybe they should have thought just a weee bit that this was all going to come to a head becuase next year you guys are screwed. Reason being (Tavares signing.) The inexperience of dumbass has lost this team one of there young studs. mark hunter would have had all the young buds under contract by now. Tavares could have flown in with his little sissy blanket and scooped up the scraps. God love the shanaplan lol
