You don't understand leverage. The leafs had two choices.
1) Give into Nylander's demands.
2) Trade him away.

It was clear that the Leafs weren't going to get full value for Nylander, so they picked option 1.

Yes I know Keith for Nylander is an unfair deal, but sometimes trades are unfair when your back is to the wall.

The Hawks gave up 2 second rounders for a guy who missed the entire season. They ended up winning the cup that year...

Every reporter that I looked at compared his contract to Pastarnak or Forsberg which are in the realm of 6-6.5. Nylander wanted an unreasonable 8 million, but was able to get 7 million.

My suggestion for Keith for Nylander was to fix a major flaw in the team and at the same time take away a player who was being difficult. I think that's pretty reasonable...

if this wasnt a done deal, they wouldn't have given him a 2 mil signing bonus to make him whole for the 26 games he didnt play this year. Thats essentially rewarding bad behaviour and elling other players and agents, they should do the same.

this was planned and executed well. hardly a staring contest.

Debrincat is absolutely killing it. He scored 72 points last year and he has 20 points in 26 games. Yea I guess you're right, he's "too small" for the NHL LOLOL.
