The cap drops because the RFA was signed in the middle of the season. So the cap hit for year 1 is based off the number of days left in the season.

I have been waiting for the Leafs to be somewhat relevant ever since their last visit to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Leo’s getting paid to much. Ennis, Leivo Johnson have been good bottom 6 guys this year. It’s going to be basically just recycling those type guys every few years while paying the top guys top end. How it should be, Komorov should never be getting a 4 year deal. Kapanen honestly should be the guy moved in a deal to upgrade defence if he keeps up his play.
