After receiving his bonus next year - depending on when it is due, his salary will be $700K next year and only $6m (including bonuses) per for the remaining 4 years. That will be very attractive for the cheapo teams, especially the welfare teams that need to make it up to the salary floor. - winsix
Makes you wonder if Nylander's camp had truly considered that. This contract makes him very, very attractive for trades... |

That’s if my math is correct. That’s $6.77M in actual salary for the rest of this season plus a full $2M SB. That’s $8.77M. $9M total in year two. We’re up to $17.77M for two years, plus $24M for years three to six. I’ve got $41.77M for six years in dollars rec’d by Nylander.

If you input Bobby Mac's numbers into that calculator, it comes out to:
First Year Cap Hit: $9,516,785.27
Years 2 through 6: $6,498,020.05

Now the Toronto sports media can commence with fear mongering over the salaries next year's RFAs will receive. |

The most important question on my mind is, can we sign Marner and Matthews? I didn’t want to sign Willie if it meant losing those guys. - celinedionpha9
Nylander will be moved if that was ever the case.
But i dont believe it will be willie or mnm |

So...what’s the end scoop, big salary this year with smaller hit following or did we cave and give him a signing bonus? - Garnie
I think in the end they knew they have a legit shot this year and did what they had to do to get him here. Seems like the cap hit after this year will be basically 7 mil |

Brown benched for a few games. He’ll be back. Don’t like his play recently. He’ll be promoted in due time. Goat also on the outside for now

Oh well, good by me....get the (frank)er in the lineup. He should have been in TO already though IMO
If I knew he was signing you’d think his clan would have had a clue. |

At this point get him signed...his value to the leafs this year is great.
And this offseason I’ll put it at 50/50 for a trade. If Willie is on the top PP unit he will get his fair share of points. |

Until they’re getting scored on and everyone’s crying about Leo’s and Polaks
Cause guys like Kap aren’t playing for league min either
Let’s hope this isn’t the case and we get some relief with the cap inching up every year. |

I'd imagine the $8.3M signing bonus due to Nylander on July 1, 2019 (Year 2 of his deal) will surely factor into trade talks should the Leafs revisit that topic in off-season or sooner.

Leo’s getting paid to much. Ennis, Leivo Johnson have been good bottom 6 guys this year. It’s going to be basically just recycling those type guys every few years while paying the top guys top end. How it should be, Komorov should never be getting a 4 year deal. Kapanen honestly should be the guy moved in a deal to upgrade defence if he keeps up his play. |

He gets bonus money regardless of strike so yes. |
