His cap hit appears to be basically 7 million after this year, maybe not though it’s kind of confusing right now. Honestly still pretty good, it’s fair and it’s not a hometown discount like everyone was hoping for though. - ClarksonDavid
Yeah, I don't get how a cap hit can change? I guess because it's pro rated for this season?
Gilman was the Canucks cap wiz back when they used to constantly snake their way around the cap and Dubas did similar things for TO under Lou from what I understand so I wouldn't be surprised if they both found a loophole to actually benefit from the holdout |

In actual dollars received, nothing to do with cap hits or AAVs, William Nylander is receiving $41.77M over six years, which averages $6.96M per year. - winsix
So, Bobby Mac has it at 41.77, and Cap Friendly has it at $45,066,604. Waiting for more clarity.

That’s if my math is correct. That’s $6.77M in actual salary for the rest of this season plus a full $2M SB. That’s $8.77M. $9M total in year two. We’re up to $17.77M for two years, plus $24M for years three to six. I’ve got $41.77M for six years in dollars rec’d by Nylander.

The bottom line is the cap figure is all that matters to the Leafs and William Nylander is worth $7-million. The Leafs aren't going to regret this contract. It won't be difficult to move if it comes to that.
Per James Mirtle^^^
Ladies and gents.
I hope he is a Leaf for life....but Nylander on a long term deal is very shiny to teams...
I hope he says a leaf but I think Dubas listens to deals from now until the contract is over. |

I think Bobby Mac is calculating the dollars he'll actually receive, and Cap Friendly is including the pro rated number. Could be wrong though. |

After receiving his bonus next year - depending on when it is due, his salary will be $700K next year and only $6m (including bonuses) per for the remaining 4 years. That will be very attractive for the cheapo teams, especially the welfare teams that need to make it up to the salary floor.

That they do. All thanks to Shanny |

The most important question on my mind is, can we sign Marner and Matthews? I didn’t want to sign Willie if it meant losing those guys. |

So...what’s the end scoop, big salary this year with smaller hit following or did we cave and give him a signing bonus? |
