6.5 million is the cap hit years 2-6. It's 6.9 million this year.
- RogerRoeper

No, it’s 6.9 after this year and like 10
This year. Leafs PR.

LOL

That can be painful and dangerous.
ER will be full of that. Willy is more powerful than that little blue pill.

- Dr. Leaf

You said it!

No longer drinking the blue kool aid. Now it's about eating the little blue pills (viagra, not valium)

maybe a bit of valium too....

we will trade him to the Coyotes fanbase to argue with Tanner ad nauseum for a bag of used practice pucks!!

DONE DEAL! NO TAKE BACKS!!

- Roadrunner75

He'll love that.

Im sorry, I dont think this is wise. So, I guess we have to trade Kap? Because clearly if these are the amounts relatively unproven players want, we cant afford him... plus a few other guys. Willy was USELESS without Matthews... 3 goals in 20 games...

Now take Willy and trade his arse

With a $10.2M year ! and $6.9M year 2+ cap hit, Nylander's year 1 salary breakdown is most likely $650,000 Base and the rest all in Signing Bonus

This would have obviously been done to minimize the money lost for Nylander & his side after missing the first 59 days of the season

- 21peter

Capfriendly must’ve changed the numbers then. When I first looked it up, the cap hit this year was 9.9, and the remaining years were 6.535.

Since Nylander is signing in-season, the #leafs will be charged a cap hit of $10.2M this season and $6.9M in Years 2-6. The deal is still pending @NHL approval.

- 21peter

That doesn't sound right.

Apparently it can also depend on it being straight salary and not signing bonuses. Gets complex. Given they waited until the last few min I’d expect it would be the big cap hit now and the lower one going forward or there was no advantage until waiting to the last day to sign him. Dubas et al know the rules intimately (so
They know how to F with them)

Not really a bit more than Pasta and less than Ehlers both solid comparables. Would say he was right in the ballpark of where most expected between 6.5 and 7 mil.

I’m still alright with it, happy to have him back. Great player, would have liked it lower obviously but I still think it’s a pretty fair deal so whatever. Excited to have him back

Cap friendly has posted these numbers - looks like Barolo Bob had a few too many drinks and wanted to be the first to report it and screwed up.
