What he is inferring is that the cap hit will be much bigger this year when the Leafs can afford it, and much lower in the subsequent 5 years. $9.57 this year and $6.535 for last 5 years according to cap friendly

BTW, the cao hit will be 6.5 milion per after this season, not 6.9
