Leaf fans are so spoiled. You will NOT get full value for Nylander. Nylander is worth nothing to your team if he doesn't sign with you .

I agree that Keith isn't the best option, but he's still a top defender, a proven winner, and has an affordable contract.

- RedRevenge

And he's 35 with 5 years left on his deal... sure his cap hit isn't terrible but he isn't the player he used to be and he's not getting any better so why would they want that contract? If the options are let him sit or trade him straight up for Keith you let him sit because you have control for another 5 years with Nylander and as much as people want to think the leafs have to win this year or they have no chance that just isn't true.

Keith is just not a serious option for the Leafs. Wrong age, too many miles on a body that does not work the way it once did.

Leafs will do fine. They either sign him today, trade him today or trade him for next season. There are even some variations on those options. But, the Leafs will have Nylander or something far more valuable than Keith.

You should probably just stop trying to poop talk other teams when the only relevant thing about your organization this season is your mascot

Will Willy Nylander ever be a face of a franchise ? I doubt it, so why is it going to cost so much to get him and why is everything so unworthy of a skilled but soft winger ? Are wingers now the most valuable trade chips in the league ?

Because how often does any 22 year old forward with back to back 60 point seasons to start his career become available?

Go ahead, I'll wait.

What is his value?
What fair offers have actually been made to the Leafs? Do you know?

Until you do, and know that the Leafs turned it down, your assumption is just a pile of bullpoop.

The leafs arent trading Nylander for Keith. He's signed until he's 40, That is not a good contract. If this were the only option, the leafs would be better off letting Nylander sit.

But don't you know? Nylnader hit his ceiling last year....it's all downhill from here so you should thank your lucky starts if you can get someone like Keith.

You won't get a fair offer for him because the Leafs aren't in a position to negotiate.

Leafs fans just don't get this simple concept. This is one of the reasons why players sell for high prices at the TDL.

Of course not but after over 50 years of disappointment and being the butt of the joke, had to do something to fill the time after round 1, Mr.Glak

The point is, they don't have to negotiate. Nylander can sit the whole year and they can trade him any time leading up to the February deadline or move him the summer.

A team finishes last.

The next season, they ice the best rookie group in the NHL, probably ever.

That rookie core loses in the first round to the Presidents Trophy team in 6 games, 5 go to OT.
Next year, they lose to a team ranked higher than them, in 7 games.

and THAT is the failure you guys chirp about, all of this shortly after your "better on paper" top-9 was blown out of the arena less than a week ago, by the same team whose fans you were chirping.

Very Spatso/Doppelganger of you. You should be embarrassed.

These guys are just butt hurt that the Leafs are elite - even without Nylander.
They think the Leafs are dumb for not trading Nylander for a discount, simply because it could help them win a cup!!

Nylander is an asset...so are 1st round draft picks....Leafs can trade for what they need without sacrificing Nylander for less than his value.
Butt hurt fans are irrational - period.

Thats the thing though. Nylanders in theory could be at his ceiling. You never know with young players. Some guys come into the league and bust right away, others could peak right away. Look at guys like Raycroft, Eaves, Brunstrum, Mason, Lapieriere, Prucha, Svatos and Gagner. These were all skilled high potential players that started out great in the NHL and fizzled out. Personally I think Nylander can be a PPG player but that isnt guaranteed.

People typically hate Leaf fans because many of them are smug when things are going good. There is also the fact that Leafs are a big market so there are more fans that overhype their team. This is normal for all teams but because the Leafs are the biggest you basically hear day in and day out that Leafs are winning the cup every year.

Little hard to win a game when you have 2 injured NHL goalies and play an AHL goalie who lets in 4 weak goals early. Kinda sucks the life out of you.

So the Leafs should trade based on that assumption? Maybe McDavid, Matthews and every 21yr old are at their peak - but most likely not!!
No one is trading a 22yr old with 2yrs under his belt with that thought "that is the best they will be".....

That would be terrible asset management.
