no idea what they want/need. but they sure look like a team ready to rebuild.
my bet is a bad contract, a prospect and a pick. - fidopro
Should the Habs be sacrificing picks and prospects right now? I for one think they should be adding as many as possible... |

1st and a good prospect or a «good» young player?
Me think a 1st and Lehkonen. Something like that. - deadpoulet
yep.
I would still prefer Provorov from Philly but that will not happen |

Any scenario that involves the first for a player over 24 is a no for me |

I would be ok with a young defenseman coming back, but not Keith. Like you said, Tampa, Toronto, Buffalo, those teams will own the division for a while. |

right, we wouldn't want to miss out on the next Scherbak
but I agree, keep the picks, unless you're 100% sure to make the playoffs, like TB or TOR |

Scherback was draft at 26 I think.
They still could have a pretty nice pick this season. |

I fully expect them to draft top 10, top 5 if we're lucky |

Yup... he would be more along the lines of what they should be looking for.... but hes already established and would be near impossible to pry away!!
Andrew Peeke, a Columbus 2nd rounder, would be a great add... Vince Dunn in St.Louis would be fantastic, Valimaki in Calgary, could take a shot on Honka in Dallas, wonder if Jersey would consider trading Ty Smith at all?

Absolutely... a LD between 19-23 should be their #1 priority.... and they have pieces to make it happen |

the problem here is that if you don't want to trade away picks and prospects, you really don't have any assets to make a serious offer for a dman.
so we'll wait, draft and cross our fingers |

I'd trade picks and prospects for the guys I mentioned and they do have pieces to trade off the roster to make it happen... Tatar, Petry, Lehkonen, Byron, Danault |

You don't think Tatar has value? Tatar was just involved in 2 blockbuster deals where the returns were pretty good, Vegas is already retaining part of his salary, Habs could keep a chunk as well, a team would get a top 6 winger for this year + 2 more for about 3.5 million, that's value! Add a 2nd rounder and a guy like Cale Fleury and you got a decent package |

they have to target a team in the playoffs race, with a surplus of young LD,
the obvious one I see is CAR |
