If Sullivan gives his typical, "I thought we played a good game" speech he should be fired.

I'm not letting Brassard off the hook either. Whatever the reason, dude is not remotely the player I was expecting. Rutherford should have listened to those comments he made after the season last year and moved him while he had some value.

Agreed. Guys been an absolute ghost.

This is not a playoff team. Not by any stretch.

Better keep that 1st round pick this year. Not sure how you fix this team. Didn’t see this coming this year. It’s a mess and hard to watch at times.

I honestly would prefer the Pens to chalk this season up and try to finish as close to the bottom five as possible. This is a deep draft. There are some VERY good picks after Hughes.

I just mentally cant do that. I’m not saying you’re necessarily wrong, but I also couldn’t look at Crosby right now giving what he’s giving and telling him you’re flushing one or maybe four more years he can realistically do this.

No, I'm just annoyed right now. The Pens won't do that and likely won't finish that far down, but I just wish they could.

Maybe it's finally time to shop some of the core players around and see if we can pull a swap out. Or fire Sullivan. I definitely agree overall keeping our 1st round pick this season is a must at this point. I think we let the wrong people go. I think we should have let Sullivan go and kept Rick Tocchet. I also think we should have let JR go and kept Jason Botterill.

More and more I think Sullivan is a bigger part of the problem.

My sky is falling trade is

Tarasenko for Kessel (idk why, but I could see JR pulling this one off)

Or JJ for absolutely who can play defense better than him

Sullivan ripping into the team a bit in his presser.

Though....he did say the 4th line has been really good. Ugh. Sheahan and Grant do two good things all season and theyre going to keep "earning" ice time.

A friend of mine in WBS stated he felt Kessel is in Sullivans doghouse/Sullivan really doesnt like him (he doesnt truly know this). He did say he was very bias though on who he played were. Which I think all of us kinda gathered from Sprong not getting much of an opportunity and Kessel being demoted and playing terrible next to Brassard.

That trade doesn't make much sense for St.Louis.

JJ is unfortunately not going anywhere until after the CBA lockout.

There are many issues with the team this season, but the biggest issue is Murray. Not having at least average goaltending or any semblance of rhythm in net is killing us.

Moreover, my hunch is that Rutherford is holding back on making moves because he may have to spend his limited assets to fix the goaltending.

I only see them doing it because they are rumored to be looking for a shake up trade.

I hope the pens put a claim in on Scherbak...can't hurt. We need new blood.

Short of that, time to see if Rust has any trade value left...I still think he's a very useful player but how long can you stick by a guy in this kind of scoring slump.

I will have to say though Grant is playing fairly well the last few games though.

He's not going get out of that slump playing on the 4th line behind ZAR on the 3rd.

I agree. He's been good on the PK.

The 4th line has been pretty decent as a whole the last couple of games. 2nd and 3rd lines fell flat on their faces. Kessel was a 20% possession player in the Avs game. C'mon.... there's no excuse for that.

Yeah he's been okay the last few games. But its a really low bar we have set for him. I don't like him blocking guys like Angello or Blueger or whomever ...

I don't know about Angello, but I'd like to see Blueger get a shot. Dipauli has been playing well in the AHL plus he has sick speed. I'd like to see him get a look too.

These ideas are just window dressing however. These recent performances from Kessel and Malkin are crushing. The team has no chance with them playing so poorly. Letang had a BRUTAL night and he basically said so in his post-game comments, but I never get the feeling he's not trying. I can't say that about Phil, Geno and Brassard.

One of the most frustrating things to watch as a Pens fan in the last ten years is when both Sid and Geno are not firing on all cylinders at the same time. It's usually one or the other.
