I really don’t see Benning acquiring extra picks, prospects or young roster players maybe.

I keep saying I will only give up on the playoffs after Christmas. If we get out of December with 9 wins we have done amazing.

The team has been in each game they lost. We are close to having a winning team again. Even last night was a fun game to watch. They pushed all night. I like what I see in many ways.

I dont think id trade up. Just have to get to the bottom of the league. Draft lotto never brings Van any success. Drafting 7-10 get a good player but probably not someone who could help turn the franchise quicker.

Benning's MO has never been to acquire picks. Not sure why he'd start during the first up steps of a rebuild when he wouldn't do it on the tumble downwards.

He'll probably look for more Motte's and Leipsics and Pouliots hoping that he finally hits a home run.

I honestly want JB to be on the phone with WPG if the pick as basically anything beyond the top 3 and see if they'll take it for Trouba.

I liked about 60-65% of what I saw last night, it's the 35-40% that I think needs attention.

We need at least 2 quality defenders if Edler and Tanev stay, so Hughes and Juolevi "could" fit that role" maybe, time will tell. Hutton is showing signs of improvement but I hesitate to give a quality label to him, same with the rest of the suspect quality defenders.

Then work on obtaining a couple of quality wingers, I am not a fan of Goldobin, he has shown glimpses of talent, and glimpses of mediocrity.

Just want to see progress whatever that entails to move up in the standings from season/season. Edler/Sutter/Tanev gone at TDL would be a great start.

Hughes/OJ to replace Edler/Tanev (yes there will be growing pains)

Gaudette or another C to replace Sutter.

Oh and a winger to play with Brovat.

Not a great look for him. Granlund/Leipsic losing an easy board battle there too on the PP is frustrating as all heck too.

As a thought exercise, I'm honestly unconvinced you could find a taker for Markstrom without absurdly over sweetening the deal.

Granlund has shown flashes (with better players) and I did have high hopes for Leipsic but now I see why VGK passed on him.

You are correct the market would be extremely soft for Markstrom but he is a capable backup able to play 25-30 games/yr and provide a few wins. Has to be a team out there looking for a backup.

I don't mind Granlund as a depth piece that you give some spot duty. Like a 9th forward. But I don't want to see him on the PP at all.

I was never too sold on Leipsic. He's just Biega. Comes out hot, becomes useless quick.

I mean sure you could get a team to take him. But you're probably retaining salary+possibly throwing in a tack on sweetener.

A ~29 year old struggling starter isn't a rare commodity in the league. Reimer, Markstrom, Talbot, Darling, Mrazek, etc. are all out there. Smith, Howard, Lehner are pending UFAs. Then there are guys like Khudobin, Johnson, Greiss, etc. that you'd have to pay a bit more to get but you'd also be getting more performance.
