Despite his age, he's a UFA. I don't think there is going to be a big market for him at the deadline. Why give up that good of a prospect. Don't need to.

You've made a really poor argument. Rubtsov by all accounts before getting injured was playing really well. He is a really good prospect. There is simply no reason to pay that high of a price for a goalie who is about to become a UFA. The 2nd back doesn't change that and I anticipated you making that argument. Howard is not a huge upgrade over a healthy Elliott. I think at this point he may bring more stability and can play more games than Elliott, so that's a plus.

The market for a goal scoring power forward who happens to be 4 years younger will be much better at the trade deadline than for a 34 year old goaltender. Pretty much every team who feels they're in the hunt will have interest in a player like Simmonds.
