Also defense is a little different especially when your top guys are playing 25+ minutes a night on most teams. I am hoping soon we can have a Pair 2 that is worth playing 20 Minutes plus a game. Folin or AMac with Ghost kinda works the problem is then you have Hagg with Provorov. Hagg just can't do that heavy lifting yet.
Idealy you'd have pairings of :
Provorov - Partner???? playing 25 - 28 Minutes
Ghost - AMac (yeah I know people will kill me for it) doing 20-25 Minutes
Sanheim-Gudas seeing 10-15 Minutes - dragonoffrost
I don’t want any Dman playing 28 minutes, LOL
In a perfect world, you have 2 legit all situations Dmen who you can play together in a late game shutdown role and both are also effective on the pp. Provy is one, the jury is still out on whether a 2nd is in the system. Sanheim and Myers are candidates but it’s far from a given. These guys will play 24-25 minutes per game
Next you want a guy who can generate significant offense from the back end. Ghost has that locked down. You want a 4th guy with good all around skills along with good wheels and size and the ability to eat 20 minutes in your top 4. Again, this spot should be filled by one of Myers/Sanheim.
A fifth should hope be a pure shutdown guy with decent wheels, good size and the ability to at least make an adequate first pass. If he has a legit mean streak, even better. This is the niche they hope Morin will fill
Finally the 6th guy needs to be a guy who can match up ok against 3rd and 4th lines and chip in some on the PK. Hagg can certainly handle this.
So the key is finding that 2nd top pairing guy. You either hope that one of Myers/Sanheim can fill that role in a year or 2 or you try to make a deal. However a deal will be costly and these guys rarely make it to FA until well past their primes. If it were up to me, I’d take the patience route for now and use some assets to land an upgrade in goal and another solid center.

Ooo0O00oOOoo.....Why should anyone believe you. Your lunch break doesn’t begin at the same time everyday and you wanted to keep Luke Schenn and Radko Gudas three years ago! How about that for knowing nothing!

That should be an interesting interview as they invite a bunch of guys to the Flyer mancave to watch the game on the big big screen.
So guys before we begin, let's watch some of the game to see what you have to work with....

Good. All I ask is that they talk to more people than the preferred candidate. At least then you can say you heard multiple opinions about how to help this team

#Habs Asst GM Scott Mellanby should be considered a strong candidate for #Flyers GM opening. Appears to be some mutual interest. Would be a great fit there, very smart with loads of experience in addition to his long playing career. From Andy Strickland on Twitter
