I've seen intentional tanking back fire. Ask the Maple Leafs about that.
- Glak18

You can sell it as an “evaluation period” for the new GM, which in reality isn’t so far fetched as the guy wouldn’t know a great deal about our prospects to begin with - or the real issues in the room. Unless he really is just going to be a puppet for the wishes of Dave Scott/Homer.

I take my chances at Hughes. Top 5 pick. Give me that baby. We are already basically in December. Ride out the year to get that sweet young talented bounty. Make big moves for next season, they need to accept this one is lost.

EDM blogger posted that CamTalbot might be on trading block.

I’d explore that

Will hate to see Simmonds and MacDonald go, but ok.

I'm super ok dealing the 2020 1st for something good, no problems. Unless there was a lottery protection on 2019.

I do hope the next GM takes a look at the waiver wire. i always felt like the Flyers could have grabbed a young forward who just maybe needed a change.

Like previously Duclair. Who seems to have finally found a home. but today Valentin Zykov is on waivers. Sometimes these guys just need a change and opportunity.

Plus some of these guys are in the 21-24 age range so still have more upside probably

The problem is you know they want to make moves to improve. They wouldn't have fired Hextall if they didn't want to improve this year. I don't see them staying where they are if they can help it.
- dragonoffrost

Solid points.

My counter would be that if they really felt Hextall was so difficult to work with, or he wouldn’t budge to improve the team as they saw fit - they should have canned him before the season began. We are in December basically, and near last in the league no? Who are they trying to fool at a cup run. Or is this purely about making the playoffs, which again - is a hell of a climb up the mountain at this point.

I absolutely hate, sorry hate is strong....DESPISE the Hunter brothers. It's like hiring Tomas Sandstrom as the new GM. Ok Mark is not Dale, but the whole Hunter crew can suck it. They are giant Dbags...all of them.

Yeah no one in the 2020 draft is even close to Hughes, he would be our Matthews.

If the Flyers liked Duclair they would have drafted him instead of Rinaldo Jr.

Yeah he is more along the lines of a Nico/Nolan.

I’ve heard Fletcher is advisor to the GM of the Devils currently. If he ends up in Philly, I wonder if he’d want to bring Cory Schneider here?

Would any of you take a chance on Schneider rebounding at this point? I’d bet Jersey would love to get rid of him.

- Marc D

Of all the goalies out there I think Schneider may be the most logical. NJ seems to be doing just fine with Kinkaid, and they have a good prospect in Blackwood.

He wouldn't be a significant upgrade but I think he'd fair better than Elliot/Neuvirth.

Goalie options for right now

Grab Darling on Waivers
Trade for Howard
Trade for Talbot
Trade for Schneider
Trade for Quick
Trade or wait for Offseason for Bob

Waive Neuvirth the Second Elliot is healthy enough to play.

The man is signed for 3 more years and hasn’t won a regular season game in months. Battling injury issues and is 32.

That's what was said when he was 15/16. He is still 2 years away from his draft. I don't see generational, that doesn't mean he is bad, but I don't think he is better than Hughes.

I think it could be worth a try for the Flyers to pick up Zykov, big bodied shooter, off waivers and he is cheap...oh wait no GM.
