Does anybody want to go back to talking about Metric? I love the b-sides 'Waves' and 'Black Sheep'. I saw them live, smashed and higher than bird wussy and it was (frank)ing amazing. Emily headbanging with sweaty hair during a long jam is worth the price of admission.

And if you don't move Nylander for help on defense, you're (frank)ed in two ways. The first way is that Nylander is eating up more cap space for forwards, giving you less to get defense. And the second way, is that by not using him as an asset to upgrade a clear point of weakness at the cost of a surplus, it leaves a right side that is Hainsey, Zaitsev and Ozhiganov. (All three far bigger japronis than Marleau and Kapnen and playing a more important position too)

Marleau and Kapanen aren't jabronis. They're good enough wingers to get 20-30 goals each plus Tavares and Marner on the PP. It shouldn't be an issue either way, the Leafs can score goals.

Liljegren and Sandin are a fair distance away from being really big impact players.

Much better off upgrading the D by moving Nylander.

The contract is obviously created for him to retire after this year as a Coyote on July 2nd, 2019.

But even if he doesn't, it'll just be the next year.

Point is, they have good enough forwards and score enough goals. It's the defense, specifically the right side, that needs the help and it's Nylander that is the best chip to get that missing piece.

I haven't seen much rancid play from the Leafs defence this season. The odd gaffe, but you'll see that on Nashville. The game is passing Hainsey by, but the other five have been better than expected.

Upgrades would be welcome, but I don't think it goes beyond the right fit for Rielly. Acquire a good defenceman, not necessarily an exceptional one, and they can keep Nylander.

Curious if you think keeping Nylander, to keep Matthews desire to play with high end talent, shouldnt be considered before trading him for defensive needs.

Hainsey, Zaitsev and Ozhiganov have been rancid at times and Andersen covers up a lot of mistakes too and his heavy workload is showing that the Leafs aren't keeping the opposition at bay. That'll only show more in the playoffs when Hainsey's old legs are even slower and Ozhiganov's lack of experience and potentially runs out of gas too.

Moving Nylander opens up more cap space and gets a better defender in return, even if you have to add to it to get the deal done.

You can coach and improve the d through hard work and commitment. You cant coach offensive skill. Keep Nylander. As said previously we can improve our dmen and depth through trades that dont include Nylander.

If they get a #4 RHD, Ozhiganov gets scratched, Hainsey becomes the #6 and Zaitsev moves up beside Rielly. But Zaitsev isn't the best candidate to be a #2 guy and that could be a disaster too.
