he hasn't been good but he hasn't been terrible imo. the -8 is a bit surprising. how putrid are his possession numbers?
edit: relative to teammates - daeth
It's weird.. 5v5, his CF% is 51.3%, 4th among the team. (Not including Justin Holl.) |

Pretty sure lube only qualifies as grease if it's oil based. |

Sort of like when I looked at the 5 games from last night and every team with the lower corsi won the game? |

Lots of pressure on him from the players to not cave, though. Especially with so many big name RFA's coming up next season. - BINGO!
He's not the president of the PA though lol. He is apparently friends with the players here, is well liked, would have a large role on a good team without being "the guy" so not as much pressure as you'd think, and he'd probably be set for life if he retired a leaf and wanted to continue to work in hockey.
just seems dumb to get your ass traded over what, 500k or whatever the rumours are? |

I really hope Babs keeps Matts with Kappy and Johnny, they were absolutely relentless together last night.
Kadri, Marleau and Willy would be so far and away the best third line in hockey it's insane.
18, 18, 16 and 8 min across the slate is niiiiiiiice. - mcleafs
I thought Matthews was actually not that comfortable on that line.
Seemed like he let Kapanen en Johnsson break out, and him making sure no counter attack happened..
Several times when Kapanen en Johnsson were breaking out rapidly, and Matthews was quite a bit behind (on purpose) thinking defense first.
Matthews needs another LW to play with him and Kapanen (assuming Nylander is not there) |

$300k was the number I last saw lol...
But it's equally dumb for the team to not jump up that amount either. It barely amounts to anything for MLSE, and is only 0.4% of the cap space. |

500k * 7 years = 3.5 million dollars
Enough for me to retire and live VERY comfortably for the rest of my days. |

That's how I keep reading it too. Feels like Dubas telling Babcock to turn the heat up. Keep bringing him up. Put the media pressure on Nylander to sign so when the trade happens you can be like "Look, we really really wanted him but the greedy SOB just wouldn't play ball!" - BINGO!
He's currently skating on a pond in Sweden.

With the Leafs it potentially raises the price of Matthews and Marner too though. 300k might end up being 900k, etc. |

Not dumb at all on the Leafs part.
They have to be focused on Matthews and Marner. They likely already know what those two want in regards to $$ and term, and can't afford to give Nylander more $$ |

For Dubas this negotiation is going to help his job and make his hockey team better.
This last bit is going to decide what colour Nylander can get his Lamborghini in.... |

I don't think it changes anything with them. Those guys are getting their money regardless, right?
Hell, the Leafs should have been trying to sign Marner the moment it was an option. He's only getting more expensive at this point anyway. I really don't think a couple hundred thousand for Nylander changes anything for the other two. |

This comment came out of your bum hole.
You don’t know anything that has happened or will happen with Marner. For all we know Dubas could of offered him 15 million a season only for him to turn it down. |

If Matthew's wants to be considered the greatest Leaf ever he signs an 88 million dollar/8 year deal. Takes a significant hometown discount. |

I always laugh at this line of thought.
What, you think Karlsson and Panarin are phoning him, telling him not to sign for less than $9 million? Why would they do that?
And no, the NHLPA doesn't give two poops either. Whether Nylander signs for $7 million or $9 million has no effect on overall player salaries - it doesn't affect the cap. Less money for Nylander just means more money for other NHLPA members. |
