I don't get why Betteman is so against moving franchises. The NFL is so much more popular, and they have no fear of moving teams for rather insignificant reasons (read into why the Rams left St-Louis).

And if I hear one more person tell me Florida has amazing young talent and will be better next year I am going to scream.

- RogerRoeper

Florida has amazing young talent. Just another first rounder this year and boom! Best team in Florida.

Bizarre, random tangent:

I was in LeafSports last night, and they had Marleau's used sticks for sale.

Holy frank, it was like a piece of rebar. I couldn't bend the thing.

Complete opposite to what the kids are using these days.

Ennis' stick was probably a 70 flex, with an ice cream scoop at the end.

It's probably used to fend off Chara cross checks.

The annoying thing is, an analyst will give their opinion and then SN runs with it as fact with other articles about this original opinion.

Like This:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...ture-leafs-beyond-season/

From this morning and from someone who is not Friedman.

This "opinion" quickly becomes fact according to SN.

- RogerRoeper

Well nit completely true. The headline clearly states "does"...they are posing a question. From there, fans take it as truth and start running with it.

Plenty of very good reasons.

- the league is going to collect about a billion dollars in expansion fees (NFL isn't going to expand). Why would I give the league $500 million when I could simply purchase the Coyotes for $200 million?
- there really aren't any better US markets out there, so moving the problem doesn't solve the problem
- the citizens of Quebec City already watch hockey as much as humanly possible. Adding a team doesn't add any fans
-growth in revenues is dependent upon growth in people watching on TV. Florida and Arizona are huge TV markets (I suspect that if Carolina wanted to move, it wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem).

Hey guys, a non-hockey question here.

I'm looking to buy a cheap used iphone 6s with 16gb. Anyone know where to get one?

- zazzle

Dont buy iphone. Garbage.

Meh...

At the end of the season, I don't think the primary/secondary assist stat matters all that much.

If McDavid finishes the year with 82 assists and Marner finishes with 79 assists.. Does it really matter if Marner had more primary assists?

- PatC80

To leaf fans who want to prove that primary assist are more valued... yes.
Overall in reality, its a nice stat, but not really.

It’s hardly reporting opinion as fact. The headline is a question - does WN have a future? The first sentence says no one knows what is going to happen. The article then just repeats Friedmann’’s opinion
- Canada Cup

Exactly.
The problem lies with the fans who read it.

The issue the NHl runs into is, no matter how big the population, people have to care about the sport. It is a regional sport through and through. Buffalo is a "Small Market", yet continues to get the best TV numbers in the U.S.

I'm going to have to agree with Roger here.

I was listening to The FAN590 this morning - they were interviewing some guy from a French Canadian media outlet.

He was stating as absolute fact that if Nylander signs a contract, he will not be in a Leafs uniform next year. The entire 10 minute interview revolved around how Nylander is justified in holding out (dude said Nylander shouldn't sign a contract at any price) because the Leafs have already committed to trading him.

It was franking ridiculous.

- Atomic Wedgie

That was one guy from French media. I heard it too. As for sn and local media, most dont report as fact.

So I'm the biggest troll yet you can't provide a single link of me trolling.

I don't need to go on. You made the claim. Back it up or shut up. Troll.

You could be 147 years old and you'll never have seen the Sabres win a cup.

- systemtool

how about, when I post 5 links of you trolling in buffalo, you go away for a year from this site

otherwise, stop wasting my time

On an unrelated note:

I haven't watched any Sabres games yet this year.

In 3-4 sentences, please tell me just how the frank your team is doing this.

Thanks in advance.

How has Dahlin looked?

Pretty rare for an 18 year old Euro to be able to contribute significant minutes in their 1st year due to rink size.

I understand your point of view, i do.
But even though the above is true, that it often gets repeated. Does the onus not lie with the fan that runs with it as fact even so it wasnt reported as such?
