Who are you upset with over this? Only him? Cause that be uninformed nonsense.
I wish he was here too from day one, but when he hadn't been offered a contract that he's worth can't be upset at the player from not being here. - burn

Is this even confirmed or simply conjecture?
Even if it is true does it absolve him at all? If anything it’s more pathetic. Grow a set Nylander and tell Pops to (frank) off.
‘but Dad I wanna play hockey with my friends!’ - Blazed
It is really hard for me to believe his dad is not a huge part of this. All of the media is saying that, even people who know Michael.

Notice in Toronto the media can't let fans enjoy success? It's not like that anywhere else. - RogerRoeper
Even outside of Toronto. Saw a tweet from blues reporter saying Matthews a target for offer sheet.
Toronto media doesn't care what the leaf fans thinks, they will still read. Negativity sells among non fans. |

For starters all numbers are unconfirmed so in that regard we are all equally uninformed.
Secondly, I’m quite positive he has been offered a contract as we are days away from.....December.
Holding out for what he feels he is arbitrarily worth is clearly not a popular decision.

What drives me crazy is all the non Leaf fans think the TO media loves the Leafs. I have never seen such negativity.
The "Offer Sheet" stuff is pure fantasy. |

Of course they are unconfirmed, which was the point. Can't be mad a a guy when you don't know the facts.
Of course he's been offered "a contract" by now. It be pretty absurd to believe otherwise. But we're not talking about "a contract" are we? Aren't we talking about one that is reasonably expected to be signed?
It's not a popularity contest. And it's not arbitrary when you can list dozens of guys comparable to him and find a spot where he should fit in. And if that hasn't been offered yet ( or just this week was offered) why is it nylander fault?

You have no idea officially what has or hasn’t been offered.
What we do know is they are uncharted territory in the cap era. Regardless of how you try to frame it this reflects poorly on Nylander.
Why would I fault the GM for trying to get players signed to reasonable contracts.
The guy that was willing to sit out a quarter plus season to get more is going to be derided for his choice. As a fan it is 100% in our right to be pissed.

It's so hilarious. The leafs are going to trade him cause they have hard feelings that he didn't sign for what THEY want him to sign for.
Nylander is a fantastic talent and the leafs aren't stupid enough to trade him because of poop that is made up (management hard feelings, fans hard feelings)
Media so hellbent on trying to tear down the leafs is highly entertaining. The leafs are the only team that have to deal with cap. They have lots of cap space and some of the smartest minds working the cap(the guy that helped write the (frank)ing cba is their assistant gm) but they can't make it work. Watch ou for offer sheets yeah, that thing that doesn't happen ever is going to happen. Players are going to want to leave one of the best young teams on the verge to go to some trash heap team . - burn
Its hilarious to see people think the media has a conspiracy against the leafs and try to do all the above.
Too funny. |

Everyone who says this though assumes he won't be offered a deal by the Leafs.
And yes, the Coyotees speculation is fantasy. They are so broke. |

The media is negative. No one is talking conspiracy. Negativity sells over positive Leaf stories.
The cap talk would not occur with any other team. Imagine if Laine was on the Leafs and got 5 goals in 1 night and was about to become RFA? |

Exactly.
If he makes it to July 1st with no extension, he would be the perfect offer sheet candidate.
Which is why everyone is saying get him signed long before then
Avoid any mess.

They will offer him 12 or 13 million per. They just need to get through this Willy situation. We will start seeing signings once Dec 1st passes.
But I maintain the doom and gloom of every player leaving is laughable. |

Its not negativity if you know how the media works. Media 101. Sell papers, views, clicks, post, references create chatter.
Cater to the lowest denominator....and look at those on here mad at them but chatting about their quotes, tweets and articles.

That's fine but then don't turn out (Not talking about you BTW) and say they are biased and love the Leafs.
The night they beat LA and majority of people missed the game due to it starting at 10:30, I tuned into radio talk for an hour and it was all Leaf talk, but all about how Kapanen will leave and is too expensive. There was nothing about the actual game.
Best Leaf teams in decades and I feel they barely discuss the play of the Leafs.
That's how media here works, they don't act like that anywhere else. |

But the option is there, its been used before...id he makes it to July 1st.
Im hoping he gets signed before jan 31st |
