Not exactly creative the Sharks are they? - walshyleafsfan
Went to the Cup Finals not long ago. Must have worked for them. And that was after years and years of playing run and gun, scoring goals like crazy, leading the league in goals and Presidents Trophies etc. Then they made a change in how they played and while it was less flashy, the results were better. They didn't win because they ran into Crosby and Malkin but they wouldn't have even had the chance to play them if they didn't modify their style. |

That's what I'm saying though. It's November and they're flying high, scoring goals and everybody is happy because they're winning the games. But the real question is, how's that going to work when the games matter? So I'm hoping that they can change over the course of the season and not create these bad habits but pretend like everything is fine just because they got the win because when the playoffs start, if the process doesn't change, the results very well could. - Unholy_Goalie
I get it.
But they do matter now and we'll see if it works when they matter more.
For now, its working. |

If he still stays after being ignored and answered with “yes” or “no” responses then just laugh at him. It means he doesn’t have anything better to do. |

How's that going to work in the playoffs when the whistles go away and the Leafs are giving up 40+ shots a game?
We all know the Leafs can score. That's not news. But we've also seen a lot of teams put up goals and points in the regular season then hit a brick wall in the playoffs because they didn't or couldn't adapt to the way the game changes in the playoffs. Plenty of President trophy winning teams or teams that led the league in goals got knocked out early because of it. I don't want the Leafs to be one of those teams. - Unholy_Goalie
Young players in November are still going to be young players in April (and May or June, if they're lucky). I don't think adding a single top 4 defenseman is going to change that, as you've been fixated on for months now.
Play to your strengths, have faith in your goaltending, ride it out. What else can they do? |

The earlier the better I'd say. Probably going to require personnel upgrades too, which includes reducing Hainsey's ice time significantly, even on the PK. |

Yeah they probably will be and if they lose in the playoffs, they'll just have to learn the hard way I guess. It would still be better if they had better habits earlier rather than later. A top pair RHD would definitely go a long way to help them though, no doubt about it. |

Other than Andersen, probably yes which right now, with his contract coming up, is kind of bad news but a good problem to have. |

Why don't you go to the Sabres thread or something? They would love to hear you poop talk the Leafs. We don't. |

When the games matter, sitting back isn't a strong suit for the Leafs. It's a bad habit they shouldn't perpetuate. - Unholy_Goalie
That's true but it's also true of any team in every sport. When you stop playing to win and play to not lose you make mistakes. |

You can make a pretty good argument for a couple guys on this team.
Tied for 1st overall in the league.
Weird being a leaf fan right now. |
