No, still a RFA. - Nucker101
If Nylander sits the year, is the relationship damaged to the point that he couldn't/wouldn't return to the TMLs?
I can't see him signing if it doesn't get done in the next couple days. |

I thought if you sit out a year you become UFA - VANTEL
Only if you're in your last year of RFA eligibility, he's just coming of off his ELC.
As long as they make him a qualifying offer, they have his rights. |

I was just reading Andy Strickland . He believes a team will offer sheet Matthews next year 14 mil where Leafs can't afford to match

I’ve heard from multiple #NHL people that Auston Matthews might be a prime target for an offer sheet. With the other salaries Toronto will need to pay, what will prevent a team from signing Mathews to a $14 mill offer sheet? QO number would be $14 Mil.

I don't hate TO as much as you guys do, but I would to see this just for the drama. I wish RFA offer sheets weren't so frowned upon. NBA and NFL teams sign them every summer. |

That would be a lot of lost 1sts. Is he worth multiple possible lottery tickets? |

It would have to be from a team that feels confident that they won't be top 5 picks.
I'd say he's 100% worth 4 first round picks that aren't top 10. |

Probably worth the gamble given his age and potential.
Who would have the cahones to try??

I think he would pretty well take you out of the bottom 5 . That is where your GM has to be savvy and trade to acquire a first each year.

Don't the picks have to be your own though? It's rare for teams to trade 1sts nowadays. |

If Guddy tweaked his neck at practice... and the fighting lesson he gave Jake was after practice was over... you can only assume he hurt himself teaching Jake how to fight. Wow...
Somehow I picture Patrick Swayze and Rob Lowe in that scene in Youngblood when his retired brother teaches him how to tug your opponent off balance. |

You got it wrong bro.
Guddy is accident prone so they aren't playing him until Saturday 5 PM EST just in case.

Not saying the Canucks should do it, but some team (St Louis maybe?) should offer Nylander a 1 year $8.1m contract. The compensation is only a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd. It would force TO to qualify him at that as the minimum next year, or walk away. If you believe him to be a first line winger, makes sense. |
