I know. But I don't find him that good offensively outside of the odd broken play based on pure speed.
He's Biega. Has a 2 game lifespan before he needs to sit again. - Lindenis#1
He drives possession and forces turnovers. I know it's tough, but who else slots in there? Ried Boucher is more one-dimensional but still all offence, everyone else is hurt. I'd like to see if Liepsic can take advantage. I like shaking things up until chemistry takes off. |

Its just frustrating to me how often Green talks about "earning it" or whatever his little catchphrase is. But then Jake has 2 nondescript shifts in the second period and he's yanked off a scoring line but Schaller, Eriksson and Leipsic seem to get a lot of rope to "figure it out".
Its still a rebuilding year for the team. Green let Goldobin play through his struggles after last years TDL and through this year and it paid off. I can't for the life of me figure out why Jake can't get the same leash especially when the lineup was down Boeser, Gagner and Baertschi as options for offensive roles. |

I mean, were not on the same page very often. You shouldn't be that surprised. Leipsic get turnovers and has good possession. There isn't a better option IMO and JV is also a good forechecker. I like it. - neem55
Leipsic is terrible defensively, worse than Goldobin imo
Thankfully JV and Horvat are solid defensively. Bo's stronger defensive game this year is going unnoticed by some people and JV has been arguably the best defensive winger on the team.
Honestly, JV and Horvat together gives me Kesler/Booth vibes, not a lot of offensive chemistry with the way they create offense but both can score goals off of the rush. I'd try Goldobin with them as a playmaking winger who can keep up with them and then you may have something.
Leipsic's straight line speed isn't that good for a midget, but I can see the logic in what Green is thinking with this line at least. |

On waivers.
Claim and send Leipsic down? - 1970vintage
Worth a try. Pretty low risk play claiming him and giving him 8-9 games. Could put Boeser up on Horvat's line so he finally has someone useful.
I can't figure out what is noise and what is truth about him from people blabbering on Twitter. Wonder if its a Teemu Pulkinen thing where he just can't move at the NHL pace despite the raw shooting/passing skill. |

How many contract spots do we have left?

Likely won't go passed the deadline in excess of 47 or 48.
Want to sign Hughes, possibly Lockwood (although I'd doubt they'd give him the 2.1 year treatment) and flexibility for other college FA's as they may become available.
I'd imagine if you claim Zykov, and you don't like him, then you put him back on waivers and I wouldn't be surprised if Carolina grabs him again. |

If he can be an 80 point player, we sure do need that. - neem55
Not if he's not an elite 200 foot player we don't. What's the point of scoring 80 points if we get scored on 90 times.

I know you guys are just yukking it up, but Hughes doesn't have any kind of label that he can't defend. He's actually got a good rep as a really hard worker with excellent positioning at both ends.... just saying - neem55
Again you're wrecking the narrative. |

Gaunce should be placed in a glass case that states 'break in the event of an AHL game'.
That's it. |
