Also, as much as I would love to win the lottery, I think I would love it more of Ottawa won it and Colorado got the 1st pick.

Could trade Tatar for a good young LD, you like that plan better?
- obie

And then we could trade another young D to fill Tatar's void.

Don't worry, it's a bit weird at first, but you get used to it.

You're worried about this year, that's where the difference lies

Not sure where the magic goals will come from next year.. and the year after that.

Tatar is part of your Offensive core.

Suzuki will help, Kotkaniemi will improve once hes truly settled in... maybe someone they draft in June... Tatar is a chip they will use to keep building.... only my opinion of course

Tatar is a nice interim guy to have. Seems to work hard, is not a liability. His contract is a little high, but Habs have cap space to spare... keep him around for a year or two unless you get an offer you just can't refuse or he is part of a package for something that will help down the line.

Otherwise, In a couple of years, will be a nice trade chip.

Vegas retained part of his salary, Habs could retain another million or so and at that point you're selling Tatar at around 3.5 a year, that's a steal and would only increase the return.... sure they could wait, no rush but if the return is on par with what their needs are, pull trigger!

Poehling should help the offense at some point too.

And I wouldn't dismiss Jake Evans too quickly. 14 points in 21 AHL games after getting injured, in his first pro season is nothing to sneeze at.
