See, the thing is, I'm not that patient. And hoping a team loses sucks. Still, I guess I'll be a happy man if they get a top 10 pick at the next draft.

This season is great.

If we win, it's great! Team is doing well!

If we lose, it's great! We're getting a better pick to build for the future!

Oh and despite Pete not caring, the show is much more entertaining!

Only problem about the winning/losing thing is though, if they're a middle-of-the-pack team and barely miss the playoffs, that would mean they likely won't get a top 10 pick. So it would be better to either stabilize the ship and cruise to the playoffs, or simply just let the damn thing sink and everybody drowns.

Naughty-cal style.

Not necessarily... their greatest need is a LD, there's 4-5 of them in the 10-20 spots in the draft

And those player will take 4-5 years to pan out...

Not the greatest of plans.

December will tell us alot about where this team is going and how Bergevin will act.

I could see players getting moved if the team keeps losing on a regular basis.

But I remain hopeful, before that 5 game losing stint, the team always bounced back after a loss and always finds a way to remain competitive.

With Weber helping on D, I think they'll be in the mix for a while still.

Could trade Tatar for a good young LD, you like that plan better?

Last night was just ridiculous. McElhinney looked like a Jedi Knight out there.

My biggest concern is his trading picks / prospects to try to just get into the playoffs.

I have no confidence in MB to stay the course of kids and prospects.

Add to that at least 4 posts, the complete steal by TVR on Drouin.

Honestly, if they play most games like last night, they'll be competing every time.

I agree that would be completely stupid.

I don't mind trying to win with what we have and drafting smart... don't trade the future away.... the best is yet to come.

yes, but I would like them to step out of the grey zone...ya know, do not finish 8-9-10... either get a LD now to make a push, or the safest bet is sell sooner then later and fall to 12-13 in the conference to be sure to have an ok pick and hopefully a good return on what you sold !

From the last blog...

Like father like son......

Better get some finishers and D on both squads....

More reason to lose games, make trades and stock up.

Joining the Rocket next season

Joel Teasdale (F) (QJMHL)
Nick Suzuki (F) (OHL)
Josh Brook (D) (WHL)
Jarret Tyszka (D) (WHL)
Scott Walford (D) (WHL)

Nicholas Koberstein (D) is playing his last season in the NCAA. I don't think he'll be signed.

Ryan Poehling (F) should sign this spring, but nothing's for sure

Jacob Olofsson (F) is without a contract after this season in the SHL, same for Joni Ikonen (F) in the SM-Liiga, but I think both of them will remain in Europe

(Had to copy and paste)

That's a good start, we'll need a couple more solid draft years with double-digit picks to get solid and stable throughout.

But things are looking up. Still need to build.

I'm telling you, if Habs aren't close to a playoffs spot come january, they'll start trading guys away.

But I have a feeling they'll be close and will compete with what they have.... might even squeeze into the playoffs.

Who knows? We might win the lottery!

The thing is... what is not close? There are usually 5-6 teams fighting for the last spot all within 6-8 points.

Also, as much as I would love to win the lottery, I think I would love it more if Ottawa won it and Colorado got the 1st pick.

To me, if you are 8 points out come january, you're not close.
