Glad to see folks are willing to give the new GM, whomever he may be, a chance before going to full on panic mode.

Gloomy in here. Any word, from the Flyers, on who’s going to replace Murphy?

It's going to be Fletcher. They can say they went outside of the organization but really not.

Lord I hope not...but then again it's Holmgren doing the hire, so a carbon copy of himself makes it inevitable.

Im down with Zito. Anyone connected to seeing Pierre LucDubois over Puljujarvi despite every media and scout saying otherwise....sign me up.

Fletcher's eye for talent is suspect.

Not in full panic mode, Fletcher just isn't the guy I'm hoping for. However, if he is the choice, I do expect them to go full out, which will be fun.

I would hope not. They have the system depth and resources to make this team a contender as soon as next year in my opinion. Just from what I am reading/hearing, they're going to make moves that Hextall wouldn't.

Murphy is a bad coach. I would normally agree with you, but in this case, it might.

Murphy was the brain child of the defensive pairings that make no sense. Expect the players to find some chemistry now.

I don't think that this will fix Ghost: he just needs a partner who will cover his mistakes.
I don't think that this will fix Provy: I really think he is not 100%.

I don't think Murphy was putting defense pairings together unilaterally. I don't expect a coach to be able to put a round peg in a square hole.

You honestly think the Flyers can trade and sign their way into true contender status in a year?

Apparently Hakstol had a problem with him. Pretty weird that the head coach had to work with an assistant coach he didnt want for 5 years.

Honestly, it really is disturbing that the head coach was given no input to the hiring of his assistants.

Yes. I think the team is pretty deep right now and the prospect pool to make at trade for needs and the money and cap space to sign needs this summer.

My concern would be it's a quick fix that gives them a shot for the next few years and then back into cap problems to keep the window open. I hope not, but that's my fear.

The head coach has the ability to tell the assistant what he wants him to do.

The defense corps alone has to be significantly better. Sanheim needs more development time. They aren't going to be able to trade their way to a Cup team defense in my opinion. The Flyers are further away from being a true contender than a couple of moves.
