As a director of Amateur scouting, I don't think he had much to do with player management at the NHL level. - MJL

I know Frost is closer and signed, but its weird people only talk about Frost and nothing about Farabee. - Glak18
Personally, I think it's foolish to be talking about Flyers prospects anymore as they're going to be shipped out. I am absolutely shocked that the Hextall firing announcement didn't also include a statement to the effect that the Flyers have also traded every 2nd round pick from now until the end of eternity, they are just deciding to whom.. |

LOL. Everybody thinks and knows that there is a middle ground. That's being disingenuous. The question is will there be a middle ground. - MJL
Not sure you worded that how you meant it.
Regardless, I see no point in worrying about this. I’m interested in the search for the new GM. And of course, beating the Penguins on Saturday.

Yep. Frost, Farabee, Hart, and Myers will all be gone in a matter of days. |

Technically he held the title of Assistant General Manager but to my knowledge his main task and forte was amateur scouting.

Frost is a long shot, reeeeeaaaaaal long shot, to make the Canadian WJC team. There's doubts right now he can fight above the OHL weight class. Ratcliffe looks like a shoe in.
They're prospects. We'll see. - mayorofangrytown
Frost has nearly 1.80 points/game this season and he's a long shot? |

Don’t know if you’ll see this, Bill but in hopes that you do: Great read! I have been mia from here due to some serious transitions in my life (all good things) but man your writing never ceases to amaze me. Glad to see you putting out work on NHL’s site too. Biggest takeaway I got and despite my early morning snark earlier, about just shooting from the hip and hiring Lombardi, I cannot agree more with the importance of interviewing each candidate.
That being said, I find it a bit frustrating that we get this far into Hextall’s tenure and see him go because the powers that be were apparently not all on the same page in terms of objectives. I gotta say, it bewildered me how Hextall could be so focused on the future but so negligent of the present. Firing him made sense but didn’t Hextall and management not now how this was gonna play out? When presented with these concerns it seems bizarre he would be so unyielding. It seems as if someone hoped the other would change and it never happened. In any event I hope whoever they bring in is able to bring a winning philosophy but also gets the support they need. Whatever gets reported, I understand not all the details will be truly divilged but it seems like either Homer made a poor choice in bringing Hextall on board or he didn’t have the support he needed. One thing is for sure, Holmgren has bedn here a while with very little success, considering the number of years he’s had. |

I reject the notion that’s out there that going into a ufa year with Simmonds was a mistake. Nothing wrong with it. If the player or players feel a certain way about it then that’s on them. Nothing is guaranteed |

I was surprised but yeah, he's an after thought.
Mackenzie actually took time to address both WJC teams in his last two Bobcasts. Episode 4 was the Canadians. When he started talking about Centers I kept waiting and waiting and at the very end he threw Frosts name out as a potential invitee to the cut down camp. Potential invitee to the cut down camp. |
