that is a concern I have, the Flyers have a deep pool but do they have a can't miss prospect coming up?I think Frost is close to that, I think Ratcliffe could be, Allison if he recovers. Is there any top 6 O in LHV? Is Myers the only real top 4 D prospect in LHV? - wcorvette
Frost is a long shot, reeeeeaaaaaal long shot, to make the Canadian WJC team. There's doubts right now he can fight above the OHL weight class. Ratcliffe looks like a shoe in.
They're prospects. We'll see. |

I guess people always forget Farabee since he hasn't signed a ELC yet? |

The one thing I’m getting excited about is we can make some real headway to our Hughes chances. Reports are another lifeless practice Today. They are fragile and it ain’t turning around - Just5

He'll be with the US squad. I still think Cates is going to be a player. O'Brien can't stay on the ice so who knows with him. |

I know Frost is closer and signed, but its weird people only talk about Frost and nothing about Farabee. |

Why is that? Due to his not so great showing at the showcase?

NCAA doesn't get nearly as much hype as CHL. |

He's been pretty quiet at BU. He's certainly not going to be a one and done player. They give him a lot of time in all situations for a Freshman.
I think he'll play better at the WJCs because the ice is smaller. Hoping Cates makes it as the 3rd or 4th line center. |

Wasn't it Simmonds + 2 1sts (Sanheim and Provorov) for Ekblad? - jmatchett383
I think it was just Simmonds and that year's 1st if I recall correctly. There may have been a lesser piece but I don't think it was the following year's 1st. I was pretty peeved at the time that Hextall wouldn't part with Simmonds to get Ekblad. |

I don't think it's the league they play in, I just think the media never mentions them and so most fans, not all, don't know about them. |

There's that plus the team is going to be really deep at center and they don't like him for a wing spot. I saw a list of centers last Friday and he was like 8th or 9th and they didn't count the three centers that could get loaned back. |

Fine he can become an American then and play on a line with Farabee and Hughes. |

The US team is supposed to be the favourite this year. It would be nice to see him play with his future linemates. |

It could also be clearing out any voices who might have any sort of inclination toward 'overvaluing'/protecting kids in the current prospect pool. - Tomahawk
As a director of Amateur scouting, I don't think he had much to do with player management at the NHL level.

I don't see them just trashing what they invested 4 years in. Four years is a lot of patience in the sports world. How many executives of strong franchises get four years to turn your team into a lottery team?
They aren't stupid. Even if you look back when Clarke was trading youth for fading stars the youth rarely turned into anything of value.
I think your fear is a little unjustified. You're fearing the unknown. It's more productive to fear the present is the future. - mayorofangrytown
It's all speculation but that fear is not unjustified in any way. Based on Holmgren's past and how he worked as a GM and the comments made by Holmgren and Scott. It's a justified fear.

The panic in here is almost as laughable as those that think there is no middle ground between build patiently via the draft and hoard all assets and win now at all costs the future be damned.
Thank God none of you are GMs - BiggE
LOL. Everybody thinks and knows that there is a middle ground. That's being disingenuous. The question is will there be a middle ground.
