i wouldn't necessarily say its a smarts thing.

soft starts are going to Ep when the team gets them. Would you rather give them to EP or Gaudette when you're trying to win/score?

if sutter was healthy you might get some time for him but its tough to find those matchups otherwise

- Lindenis#1

Maybe it's defensive matchups or faceoffs he's using him for?

I never really noticed him from what I saw of the game (falling asleep a few times) so I can't say 1st hand

I know many of you won't like this, but after watching several of the highlights from that game, it is pretty obvious that this has become a puckwatching league.
That 1st goal by LA, what was Gaudette, or was it Gagner doing, same with Brock on the game winner.
The Petterson move in the 3rd, both Rempal and Forbort watching the puck. Most, if not all these players are trained in NCAA.
This is the influence of NCAA hockey/ the new nhl.
I have mentioned this before and took a bit of flack, but that is reality.
Also, Gaudette need to be in Utica, as he is a long ways away from being an nhl player.

Good points here. Watched a lot of NCAA when my cousin was in North Dakota and there is not a lot of contact in the league and a lot of puck watching. Gaudette is struggling so far with the bigger, more mobile bodies in the NHL plus the contact. But, in Gaudette's defense playing with our bottom 6 plugs with 4 min TOI isn't helping him either. Either Green needs to put him in a position to succeed or send him down. It's fairly basic.

Gaunce is a plug but better to have his defensive abilities up here than Gaudette. When Beagle and Sutter are back Gaunce can go back where he permanently belongs in the AHL...until Sutter is hurt again of course lol.

Not to take away Brock's lazy play on the winner but it doesn't help if your goalie is giving up juicy rebounds all game. Marky basically just blockered that right on to Brown's stick. He's done it a few other times in the past 9-10 games too. IS what it is.

Got to find someone to blame. Why not Roussel and Eriksson for missing open nets.

It's a coaching thing. Green doesn't have the confidence or the smarts to utilize him properly yet. Needs to be down in Utica lighting it up.

Kid is just trying to survive out there. I'd rather have Gaunce chipping the puck off the glass and making net-nothing plays than Gaudette

Dude needs to get his offensive wheels moving again in the A

also, he made his name as a goalscorer in the OV spot on the PP in college. but I feel like its been weeks since he lined up there on PP 2

- Lindenis#1

I don’t think he is good enough a player to warrant getting that spot as a rookie ...guys like BB and EP showed right away that they are game changers and should get those kind of opportunities. I think AG will need some time before he’s a focal point on a pp

I really don't get the NCAA reference. Picking a few players who happen to be brought up through the NCAA who were parts of bad plays, and then referencing their developmental "junior" league is just dumb imo. For every play that Jake or Goldobin or Leipsic, or any other player gaffes on, no one brings up the OHL or WHL development as part of their problem. Rookies, or sophomores are going to have mistakes, lazy habits/tendencies, etc no matter what league they enter from. Its all part of the process of developing. To me, Its more-so just a matter of players, on two of the worst teams in the league, probably playing in games where they shouldn't. Gaudette isn't ready, and I bet you kings fans would argue the same with Rempal and Forbort. Not really sure what the NCAA has to do with it.

In Green's defense, Gaudette has been up here 21 games this year, and he has played with some good players along the way. It's on Gaudette to push the envelope to show he's ready for a bigger role, and he hasn't done that. Not for a full game, not consistently. You're picking up on one game and extrapolating from that. His TOI for the year is around 10 minutes – for comparison Bo's was 12 minutes his first full year, but Bo showed that he was ready and capable.

I think you'll see Gaudette be the first one sent down when Sutter and/or Beagle come back.

I’d rather Gauds play 4th line C this year in the NHL than 2nd or 3rd in the AHL.

When the two titans of defense are back put them together to form one super line.

Petey
Horvat
Beags
Gauds

Gaudette is playing 4 minutes a night now. He was Utica's number 1 center down there. I would rather him develop in Utica for 20 minutes a night, and still end up being a 3C or 4C for the Canucks in the future, than play 4 minutes a night until he gets there. I wouldn't mind him staying if we didn't have Sutter/Beagle coming back, but its only a matter of time before he is back in Utica anyway.

I must have misread. I thought Ben Birell or Cory had said he was playing top line center when Gaunce was injured.

Kero I believe was, but Gaudette was getting a solid 2C roll and was on the top PP.

Pretty lofty for a first year pro and its easy to project that he'd be the top C in Utica by February if things followed a reasonable projection.
