I don’t hate Jake, but he takes too many games and shifts off for my liking. If you can flip him for a legit 2C, I’d make the deal. This team’s core group needs to be shaken up. - BiggE
This team skates in circles. When they turn the puck over, the players make a circle. Jake is the ringleader. That poop needs to end |

I don't think it's that difficult to identify the weakness of the team and propose generalities of what the team should do. It's a whole other thing to actually do it. For example, acquiring a legitimate top 4 defenseman is not easy and is costly. - MJL
Very true and why I left out 4 and 5. I think everyone on here has a different view of " legit" goalie is. And even so, teams would and should cling on to them. As they should top defensemen. |

Voracek actually doesn't skate anywhere after a turnover. He stands there and watches while his teammates have to clean up the mess.

I still would like an answer to that question. I really would. - MJL
we know it is player execution, it is on them but the GM and coach put the team on the ice, It is fair to hold them accountable. I don't think with what I know Hextall should have been fired but I don't know behind the scenes. I do think Hextalll needed to do more with the assets he had to make a better team NOW, again I don't know behind the scenes. |

Would be kind of funny if we made a move for Shea Weber now. I could see Homer doing it tho. |

All for a cap hit of 8.25 million, a princely sum indeed. |

Next steps, following the announcement of a new GM should be
1. Bring in a new head coach and at least one new assistant
2. Trade Simmonds for a prospect and a pick
3. Trade Jake for a 3C and a pick
4. Trade a pick and/or a prospect for a legit NHL goalie
And, at the draft, swing a deal for a quality veteran top 4 Dman.
- BiggE
Would rather trade Jake for a 2C and let Patrick continue to develop at 3C. He's still only 20. It's asking a lot of him to be the 2C right now imo.
Onboard with everything else though.
Both good posts!! - Hokeeguy9
So, before even letting this magical new coach take a look at this team he’s going make all these moves? |

Only thing funnier is if the new GM is the athletic director at North Dakota. |

Agree on all 4. Honest question BiggE, if you are trading Voracek why not trade Giroux also? |

And that’s why I had it last and at the draft. It’s not something that will happen right away, but I think it’s an important piece that this team lacks |

This core has sucked for 3 coaches and two GMs now. I don't think a new coach is going to magically solve anything. |

I'll say what I've said repeatedly. Coaching is results oriented. It is never unfair to hold a coach accountable for the results on the ice. Coaches often pay the price for players sins. That doesn't change that the responsibility for being ready and prepared to play is on the players and not the coaches. The coaches are responsible before a game of relaying the advanced scouting data to the team, setting the lineup, and advising of a strategy going into the game. If you have to motivate players before every game to be ready to play with intensity and urgency, then you have a big issue with the players you have. That simple.

Giroux is a legit 100 point player, he drives your pp, is a beast on faceoffs and can kill penalties too. He’s the one vet I don’t want to move. Even 2-3 years from now, he should still be an effective player and still a stud on the pp. |

Hexy had to have had some sort of blowup w upper management. This came out of left field, no leaks, no “votes of confidence”, etc. I remember watching the draft and Hexy being on the phone w another GM. I have no idea what was said on the other end of the line, but I was reading Hexy’s lips. He said something like “”Are you (frank)ing joking?” “why would I do that?” And “you’re (frank)ing crazy”. It’s certainly not a way to influence people or win friends, no matter how stupid the proposal was. Maybe he blew up at the wrong person above him?? No one saw this coming, and I’m waiting for his replacement prior to passing any judgement. Will always love what Hexy brought to the organization as a player, and for righting the ship in fixing the mess Homer left behind. |

Other than getting a good goalie I don’t really see how these moves make the team better now. You lose two of your top scorers and only add a third line center to this years team? |
