Listening to NHL radio on XM...hosts are saying the Flyers have a trade in place that will be announced soon. Word is it involves “3 to 4 pieces.”
We’ll see... - BroadSTmayhem

The Scott Hartnell for R.J. Umberger trade early in Hextall's tenure was only partially about somewhat earlier cap relief but also partially about getting rid of a player whom Hextall did not feel was in line with various things he wanted to install internally within the team. That deal didn't work out well at all.
The BJs were forced to buy Hartnell out with two years remaining on his deal, incurring four years of cap penalties, while Hextall used their draft pick to trade for the pick he used on Vorobyev. I'd say it worked out fine for the Flyers. |

I would burn everything that is Flyers that I own and start watching the Devils if Dale ever steps foot in Philadelphia. - Glak18
I missed the rivalry and cant say Im blinded by the hate. There arent many sports teams that have dominated to the level the London Knights since the Hunters took them over. |

no playoff series win since 2012
alternating seasons making the playoffs
goalie carousel
horrendous multiyear pk
basically a .500 team with long win and losing streaks at the same bottom of the metro spot at thanksgiving every season
the tunnel is definitely nowhere near in sight. hopefully that changed today. - hammarby31
Only play-off series is a credible reason.
But we are 5 months out from Play-off decision s

I seriously hope that rumor of 3-4 pieces isn't true. Let's let a new GM do this stuff |

I don't care, I would rather burn my crotch region with a welding torch than root for Dale Hunter. |

I still would like an answer to that question. I really would. - MJL
The obvious answer you refuse to hear is that the coach needed to have the team ready for BOTH games, not just the first one.
You don't end up with league's 3rd worst first period goal difference over a 270 game sample by accident. |

Anything's possible, but I'm skeptical -- who would even be making the moves? I don't know that Homer's been that involved in the operational side to do something like that
People can mock Homer all they want, but Bill, etc., have said that he hasn't been hands-on for years

F Dale Hunter. - Sinisalo4vr
I don’t think Dale is a fit....but Mark Hunter is a very smart guy, and would be a great choice as the next GM. |

Definitely have mixed feelings about Hexy being let go. He did a great job stockpiling assets, trading aging players with high cap hits and making some really solid draft picks. However, there were several head scratching maneuvers which I think ultimately led to his firing; goaltending being the biggest blunder. I won't sugar coat it...Hexy screwed the pooch with getting this team a decent goalie that doesn't get injured wiping their a$$ with baby wipes. Carter Hart and Felix Sandstrom may be the goalies of the future, but there are absolutely no guarantees they will be the franchise goalie this organization has been missing for decades.
Other positions of need were largely ignored/not upgraded and not firing Lappy after several consecutive years of an abysmal PK was also another problem not rectified. Rumor has it his inability to relieve Hakstol of his duties was the final nail in the coffin. We'll have to wait and see what happens now! I do wish Hexy all the best! - aantny88
So the Flyers brass wanted a coaching change and the GM wouldn't do it, so they fired the GM and kept the coach?

I should note that I met him and Michel Goulet at a bar in Alexandria Virginia. Goulet bought my then fiancee and myself drinks. Goulet was great and Hunter seemed okay too but I've never gotten over that poop ass cross-check on Pierre Turgeon. |

Nah -- they'll be fine. They've been killing it at ES
Need a dependable goalie to pair with Elliott, one or two legit defensive forwards to help the PK
They can turn this around if they commit to it -- the talent is there, the assets are there, the cap space is there |
