It’s interesting to me that so many people think this weeks games against SJS and TBL are somehow “bad.”

We’re as good or better than both, and have already beaten both this season.

30 point casey or 10 point nelson?

Winning is out of a lot of Buffalo fans comfort zones, they're expected the wheels to fall off instead of pressing that gas pedal even harder.

You are correct. Lost 5-1 to them in San Jose.

We shall see in the long run if they can maintain the winning.
That said, it has been fun to watch this team play in the clutch with goals from around the roster...well except Skinner who scores nearly every game.
IMO, the clutch time wins are very important for a developing team in helping to develop a strong mental resolve rather than the wilting flowers we have seen over the past several years!

I dont believe the Sabres will maintain this torrid pace, nor do I believe they are as good as Tampa...yet they have played them very well over the past year-plus.

I standby my pre-season prediction of 92-94 points. Their pace right now is at 112, and Skinner at 60 goal pace.
Do you all think that is sustainable?

I am enjoying the present though...fun to watch again!

flip side to that
I expect other players like casey, and dahlin, etc to increase their point production at some point

skinner won't stay hot, but someone on his line will pick it up at some point

does the goaltending hold up, that is my question

and it is fun right now

Dahlin has 8 points in his last 8. Thompson is starting to fill the net with 3 goals in his last 4. Mitts will get better. This team should hopefully continue to improve as well.

Eichel has like a 2% shooting %. That will climb to about 8-9, IMO.

He will start scoring.

Pipeline is dry of top-9 center talent. If they keep their firsts, I think that's the position they target in the first round

Edit: we also need the Blues to pick it up (to 20th)

Asplund is offended by this.

I really thought most people pegged him as a 4th liner - there's nothing wrong with that

I think most had him as our future 3c

Gotcha. Still could be. The bigger point I was trying to make is that I think Homie is right. They could upgrade at center this year, or if they don't move any picks, I could see them going pretty heavy on centers in the draft

I saw him as a 3C or possible LW like he has played back and forth before Rochester.

Hows the goaltending? Is the winning a matter of the Offense firing on all cylinders or is Carter the Hutt/Ullmark tandem looking solid?

Hutton/Ullmark have been outstanding. That has really boosted our team confidence. We have scored when we needed to. The real difference is the work like attitude that the Sabres have, if they are down 2 or 3 or up by 2 or 3 they play the same game. they pressure the heck out of the puck, create turnovers and capitalize on mistakes.. very fun to watch these guys play.

It's timely saves moreso than outlandish goaltending stats imo. And Hutton's ability to play the puck is a very underrated element in the play of the defense

you are right on..... They use Hutton some times as a 3rd D man out there because he can play the puck so well...
