What's up, E15? How was your holiday? - I Am The Breadman
Quiet. Just the way I like it. Hope yours was good. |

And before you guys get boners because of the size of these two busts, neither is physical. Like Edsjell, Strome can't skate at a NHL level. Its not just speed. Its balance. Short area burst. Technique. Strom fails miserable in all those areas. But hey, he wins FOs.
BTW. ROR is the best FO guy in the league. How is that working out for the Blues? - Elbows15
Not touching that ...
I made the Ejdsell comparison too, just that Strome plays center. |

Patrick Kane said he was watching Arizona's game last night. "I thought Perlini was probably the best player for Arizona. And we know the potential Dylan has with being a high pick and chemistry he’s had with DeBrincat before, too. Hopefully, it works out." |

How can you not love Kaner? Guy has done nothing but play hockey since he was a toddler and he’s watching Calgary vs AZ on his off day Sunday night. The man eats, breathes, and LIVES hockey. Best position for Strome to have success is with Kane, not the AHLers on lines 3/4.

So, in a nutshell. The Hawks traded a guy who made it to the NHL faster than two guys drafted higher and you know, actually produced at the NHL for two players who have yet to justify their draft slots. Jack Skille anyone?
Strome and Perlini combined have a whopping one more point than Schmaltz. For reference, Ryan Hartman is a more useful player than Perlini and actually will throw a bodycheck.
Its time to get rid of Bowman before he does more damage. |

Oh I know what he meant, but it is all just speculation unless you can back it up. I'm just saying that in my opinion it was more likely that Schmaltz's agent wanted a deal the Hawks didn't want to hand out. More than Schmaltz is so bad we have to lose him, which is how some posters are painting him. I don't know what Hockey Operations think of him really, but folks go overboard with the criticism around here. Nit picking everything about a young player because they have a few flaws in their game.
We gave up 1 good young player for 2 good young players, just the one we gave up has shown more of his potential (so far) than the 2 we got. I hope it works out. - breadbag
The trade itself proves they were tired of waiting on Schmaltz. Part of that waiting process involves analyzing on-ice maturity and personal objectivity. With respect I don’t think you can just say it was a contract issue. If in addition to all his other issues and failings, it looked like Schmaltz over-valued himself that is just another issue. You can’t see management talking about his issues and failings, which were enough to want to move him, and on top of it he wants an undeserved, unearned contract? Here’s the door Nicky.

Totally agree. Usually by that point in the night I’ve had my fill with east and Midwest games, and two teams I don’t like won’t make the cut. Meanwhile Kane is watching the game like he’s playing both of them this week. |

Just to get a take from the Yotes GM. This was the quote going around from that end. Basically they got tired of waiting.

When discussing trading Strome and Perlini, Coyotes GM John Chayka said there is a difference between patience and hope. The latter is not a way to build your organization. - breadbag
the motivation for this trade for both sides is cut your loss and lets see if change of scenery will work...yotes must have been really disappointed with what they saw to give both up in the smae trade for one guy...

I think all three guys probably needed a change of scenery. Just my opinion. |

IDK. Maybe watching him float or fly the zone and fail to pick up his man? I like Kane but he has been total dogpoop the last 7-10 games. Especially with his lack of effort.
He is suppose to be a leader and is being paid to at least try. |

It isn't just "another issue". All of it will factor into the decision to move a player. These failings you mention are just blown out of proportion IMO. That is the same for whomever is the latest whipping boy around here. At this point, it really doesn't matter why they traded him, it is done. |

Lol. I meant board boners, Liver Lips, not my own potential issues.
So, I surmise you're not a fan of the trade? |

This is something I agree with 100%. Kane has been just lazily wandering around the ice a lot of the time in the last few games. |

If this was Olympic figure skating, Schmaltz is a gold medal winner. But this is hockey. - tompo1015
What do Schmaltz and a Men’s Figure Skater have in common? Answer: in competition neither goes near another competing skater.

Sorry BB, but the sun still rises. We need our superstar to lead the youth movement. That isn't leading by example, well, not positively anyway.
I liked his goal off the Saad feed, but that is about it. |

Stick to your narrative even when its not entirely the case. You, sir, are hockeybuzzing at an elite level.
Did he pull up at times? Yes. He also was doing much better the last few games of competing. But whateves. Now we get to watch bigger guys get pushed around. Well, in Strome's case, if he can actually get anywhere near the puck in time. |

Disagree. Whether he was in a contract year or not, and whether he was demanding an amount management thought was too high or not, he had already worn out his welcome with his play and his attitude. Schmaltz brought the criticism on himself. The contract issue wasn’t the engine that drove this trade. Schmaltz traded himself.
