you can just see that Keith is very well trained to execute that pass....

Or he gets the ruler from the fat penguin like Jake and Elwood.

He scored 52pts one year, and is on pace for 8g and 39pts this year. Explain that being a top 6 forward? A 40pt winger to play with Kane...and how much do you want to pay him?

GPG
Schamltz - .18gpg
Perlini - .22gpg

For a team that needs goal scoring, not much of a difference there

And Strome only has played in 48 games and has won 261 face offs to Schmaltz's 457 faceoffs... while little Nicky was losing over 750

If they can get 40pts a year out of Strome, this deal is a steal

- PatShart

Not happening in the NHL. FOs? Really? BTW, the knock on both Perlini and Strome is they aren't exactly physical. So, the Hawks are now slower, have even less scoring but can win an occasional FO.

Might want to look at the difference in points between Schamltz and Perlini. That is a huge difference but whateves. These two help with the tank

Strome has played 48 NHL games, how can anyone really make an assessment of him? At least let him play some. That said, his skating worries me.

His wiping at the corners of his eyes multiple times was the only subtle giveaway this was slightly different than the regular press scrum for him. Like I said before, he's a loyal and openly emotional guy. Has to be hard to train up multiple young guys (Hartman, Schmaltz, Vinnie, Panarin) to your liking for them only to leave a few months or a year or so later.

Don't think either of us were spinning any conspiracy theories beyond reading him as being (unsurprisingly) unhappy.

- pdx2ord

Think he had just come off from practice and was still sweating. He seemed out of breath and may have a huge cocaine problem with all the sniffing. lol

Another trade we got fleeced on!!!

Per Tanner: IF there was one reason I was higher on the Coyotes this summer than most, it was because I felt that some of their under-the-radar pickups, specifically Vinny Hinostroza, Jordan Oesterle and Michael Grabner, were very underrated.

So far, I have been impressed with all three, but especially the blazing fast Hinostroza, who has been great.

In eleven games so far, he's got three goals and three assists. Not exactly mindblowing numbers, but still very good.

48 games!?!? This joint usually knows the future of a player within a period. Two max. 48 games is when he begins his inevitable physical decline....

Cause there is a reason he has only played 48 games. He is about 4 years out from his draft class. For a 3OA pick? That is hugely worrisome.

Its not like he was trying to crack the line-up of a good team or anything.

Hahaha! If that's the case, then we're screwed. At least Schmaltz had speed and skating abilities.

Oh, its the case. I am not a Bowman basher but I honestly think its time for him to go before he does more damage.

FFS. Signing Manning to a 2 year deal should have been enough to get him fired. I have no idea on people who are paid to evaluate talent can possibly thing it was a good idea. Guy nearly crashes face first into the boards every time he goes into a corner. Bambi was better on ice than Manning

Manning and Kunitz were brought in on account of Q. My guess would be that JC doesn't or won't play them much. Maybe they are there as extras or traded. But with Manning, Bowman doesn't really have contractual negotiating skills. I'm okay with most of his trades, but the term and aav, I have problems with that most of the time. I and most of the other posters said Q and Bowman should have gotten the pink slip at the same time.

The last line killed me!

Right, Scmaltz had way more assists - and played with a guy named Kane

Who has Perlini played with, that has a fraction of that talent?

Never really referred to Strome or Perlini as "physical", but Schmaltz couldt tear open a wet paper towel so no physicality lost

So 58% on faceoffs isnt better/positive than 38%?

And Perlini is "slow"? I agree with "whateves" to your statement

People moaned about (still do) Tavares "skating"

I'm not sure, but I think hes doing "ok" skating with a couple of speedsters in TOR?

And was Strome an anchor to some slow guy named McDavid in Jrs?

And if Strome cant skate/keep up...how did he manage scoring as much as he did in the AHL as a 19/20yr old?

thats the problem in and of itself is the assessment, this kid was drafted after mcdavid and (232 gp) eichel (238 gp)...in three years he has neither developed nor performed up to the standard of a #3 pick...he gets compared to ryan getzlaf type skills and style...so far not even close...

I’ve been actively calling for Stan to be dismissed, however, in the mean time its encouraging at least to see he didn’t dig his heels in and double-down on Schmaltz when all of us saw the warning signs regarding his lack of engagement. Many of us expected Stan was going to re-up Schmaltz for more term/$ than necessary or deserved - but instead he dealt him for two chances at something better... or different at least.

So today, I’ll give Stan his due.

its the type of hockey trade you expect from stanbow: hopeless for hopeless and hope your wrong on the hopeless you got back.

its quite possible that strome and his skill set finds a great home playing with cat or kane or both...why the hell not...hawks have nothing to more to lose this year; they are done.

MCD = remodel for playoffs = BS; this is a rebuild "hope" trade
