I don’t mean to sound like such a downer, but the prospect pool is also not “too 3”. Beyond Hughes, there are likely no stars coming. Some depth sure, more guys like Goldy and Granlund. Important for team to have guys like that, but they need more guys like Boeser to emerge from later picks, or at the very least, Shotgun and OJ need to realize their full potential. - 1970vintage
The reason why Van was ranked high was because of EP and QH. Every team has the rest of the depth. One or two players separate top from bottom of the rankings.
No team is going to have 4-5 star players in their system. One star player can make two other mediocre players better. |

The team isn't winning playing EP and BH to death. Just increasing risk for them to get injured.
Granlund is not a center. The fact they keep playing him at center just (frank)en baffles me.
When I do get to see the games. I always think I would like to see Gaudette get more ice time. Not a massive increase. A more consistent 14 minutes a game.
At this point, why can't TG try something different. They are on a 8 game losing streak. - manvanfan
Not that I'm against what you're getting at, those guys are overworked, but what else is TG going to do?
The other Cs on this team are Gaudette and Ganger. Could recall wunderkid Gaunce to play C, I guess. Granlund shouldn't be playing C like he is, but the other guys aren't really an upgrade, so it's sort of a moot point. As soon as Beagle or Sutter come back, Granlund will be the first one to the wing.
Honestly, I'll be in the minority, I think Gaudette should be sent down. He's not useful at all up here right now, and I think he'd develop better down there in a larger role. Bring Gaunce to play his minutes for all I care.
As mentioned earlier, they've won with this roster in high-scoring games against good teams. Hard to switch things up too much when you don't have better players than the poop that's already playing. |

Likely stars would be playing on the team. Hughes could have played this year.
Jake and Goldy made progress.
Players that are having good seasons OJ MacEwen Jasek Dipietro Brassard Woo Lockwood - VANTEL
But none of those guys are going to move the needle. MacE isn’t going the be a Bertuzzi. If he makes the NHL you hope he can contribute as a solid 3/4 line guy. Jasek’s top end is a Jannik Hansen type. They still need three more legit top 6 forwards and 4 more legit top 6 D, and 2 goalies. |

Now the prospect pool is basically Hughes. If they redo the rankings where do you think Van sits? |

You and I must see different parts of Gaudette's game. I want to give him more minutes, you want him to be sent down.

This is a transition year. Even though I don't like Pouliot he is good for getting us a high ranked forward. I all along the way believed we will get a top 10 forward.
If you can convince Edler to waive you can trade for another top 6 forward.
Changes will come to the D next year.

Agree, subtle changes will happen this off season. None of the LH guys have a contract yet. I hope that only Hutton OR Edler are back next year. Sign a 1 year $1m filler in case Hughes/OJ struggle, or bring up a Sautner type guy from the minors. |

Do you not think that other teams have players graduate from the prospect pools too?
Stl. is ranked at 5 in sporting news.
Thomas 7 points in 17 games NHL. 4 More points then Gaudette
Kostin 7 points in 19 AHL games. Less then Dahlen
Kyrou 3 points in 9 AHL games. Less then Jasek in PPG.
Those are the 3 top ranked players from the sporting news.
So Stl, two spots behind Van; their highest ranked player is doing a bit better then Van's 6th ranked prospect.
Don't worry, Van is still in the top 5. Not to mention that Rathbone, Lockwood, and Madden who are all pretty close to a PPG in college aren't even ranked in Van's top 10. |

I'm a bit annoyed that JB didn't make one or two changes in the summer time. Said he had opportunity, which we don't know what that opportunity was but a little change might have had a different result. |

Hah! Don't get me wrong, I like Gaudette, I think he will turn into a good 3C. I just don't think keeping him up here is helping his development. I think he'll be given more responsibility and ice time down in Utica, as well as a chance to be a top 6 forward and play with better caliber guys down there to get his offensive game back. |

When Van does get some centres back, certainly sending him down would be my preference as well.
Would be good for Dahlen to play some a more skilled player than what's down in Utica right now. |

I am not annoyed at all.
Benning said in an interview at the beginning of the year they don't expect to make the playoffs. What happens if Canucks draft Byram this year ? It opens up trade possibilities having Hughes and Byram on the same team.
I do hope Canucks sign Jordie Benn next year for <2 mil if he is available. |

Van has no left side defence and if you were to draft both of them, you would be drafting to keep them or you would just draft someone else. |

Like Leipsic
2017-18 Vegas Golden Knights NHL 44 2 11 13 4 -1
2017-18 Vancouver Canucks NHL 14 3 6 9 10 -3
2018-19 Vancouver Canucks NHL 14 2 3 5 2 -7
Point totals have not changed much from his time in Vegas. Last season a bit higher because he got to play constant with Bo at the end of the season.
At best I think Leipsic might have Derek Ryan type potential. Sub 30 point totals over 82 games. |

Funny, as in strange, I just saw the posts on cell companies, I just switched to Koodo three days ago and told telus to go pound sand. Telus owns Koodo but the wouldn't match their 50 dollar a month plan for unlimited nationwide talk & text with 2GB data.
They said the best we can do is your (my) 50 dollar BYOD + 30 dollars for 3GB data = 80 plus tax.....(frank)in idiots!!! - LeftCoaster
The only difference is telus offers premium phones and Koodo is a model year behind. Same with virgin and bell, fido and Rogers. Same towers, same signal. I go with bell because they offer a canada us plan. |

When you don’t have much to work with you play a strong defensive system, which is boring as hell to watch, but effective.
He hasn’t done that. Structurally they're a nightmare, but on the flip side, the offence is at least entertaining. - LeftCoaster
That is definitely debatable, I find them predictable and boring.
At least last night was more physical from a few forwards like Motte. |
