I finally have reconciled Marcus Kruger's utility. On a winning team, that plays with the lead a lot, he had a lot of value. A pest to play against, but has minimal value on a team that play from behind. Has minimal offensive prowess.

That's what happens when there are holes at the top of the roster, the guys on the lower lines or lower pairs get blame since they are what they are. With Kane and Toews on the same line, the second line isn't a very good third line.
