I have to admit ignorance on all of the Stromes. Do you agree with any of this scouting report? https://www.eliteprospect...layer/228107/dylan-strome - Mr Ricochet
Stromes excelled in junior but have underperformed in The Show.
Dylan's got a big wing span and has history with El Gato.
Hopefully Colliton and the GENIUS Barry Smith LOL can
yank it out of him again.l

Too bad Hammer wasn't part of the return. I'm optimistic about our top 6 getting a great boost though. |

Idk you don’t think Strome can put up 50 with Kane on his wing? Schmaltz hasn’t looked good away from Kane. He floats and is contact adverse. Perlini can be a 40pt 20g guy who skates and has size.
Both guys have size and are prospects yes but so is schmaltz. None of them are finished products. The hawks got more talent back then they gave up and all are young players on ELC. Actually love this trade. If it pans out it’s a huge win for the Hawks rebuild. - bhawks2241
Like your whole post and I was thinking the same thing about Perlini. A 3rd line guy who can slot up and give you a speedy physical 40 points. ..... I wanna say a Bickell type game but will wait to say such things.
While we're hoping I hope this signals a bit of a change as to not always deferring to speed/skill. Gotta have speed/skill but man someone has to win a puck battle and go to the net! |

Z, done with you dude. Didn't and won't read your posts unless you parade around you were a Bovqist guy all along which if true you never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever uttered a one syllable of his name predraft despite having closed ended not open for discussion proclamations on any and every subject. - Mr Ricochet
You are totally gone dude. I did not talk about players like Dahlin, Svechnikov or Kotkaniemi either as it seemed they wouldn’t fall to 8 either. I talked about players I thought had a good chance to be there at 8. I didn’t think Boqvist would be available at 8. I was actually wrong - thankfully wrong. However, how does this have anything to do with my family and I being happy he fell to 8. So if I didn’t think Toews would be available at 3 in his draft year I can’t be happy he was? Surely you see how insane this is. How insane.

A few blogs back Justin pondered a fair return for Schmaltz and mentioned Neiderietter. I'm a fan of his and Perlini brings that kind of game though not quite in Neiderietter's class. |

I, like many other Hawk fans, was at wits end with Schmaltz' play this season so I don't mind one bit that he was traded. However, from what I've seen and know of Strome is that he has not been worthy of the #3 overall pick in the 2015 draft. Very good JR player for Erie but has done nothing at the NHL level. The main problem is he's not a good skater for the NHL level and that is a big problem. Other guys who aren't good skaters have been successful and Strome has good size so maybe he'll develop but so far he hasn't. I don't know much about Perlini other than he has good size too. |

anybody just see Hartman turtle against Josh Manson? Hartman challenged him then.......???Man if Bowman would ever to be able to pull off a move by getting Charlie's Boy ????? Just what we need back there unless JC can bring out some of those attributes in Conner Murphy once he comes back. |

Is it me or is it a bit worrisome that StanBo only trades with like 3 teams? This is a red flag in my opinion--is it possible people do not want to deal with him? |

The Strome boys spent most of their minor hockey days playing and hanging with Connor McDavid around Toronto. That doesn't mean anything except for the fact Dylan is coming to a team who will push him to improve and put him with players who have won before. I think the summary of his hockey skills is a bit heavy on the flattery but a player doesn't get drafted #3 overall if he's a stiff. I am looking for improvement from Strome like Reinhardt has done in Buffalo. He had better because he is now the #2 center.
You know who really benefited when Stome went #3 overall - the Leafs because Mitch Marner fell to them next. |

No, not good numbers in the bigs but as a 20 yr old he put up 53 points in 50 AHL games. ..... Maybe he's a very good AHL and not NHL player? Hope not but we'll soon see.
Was thinking these guys would get a full practice in but this damn weather might not allow them to fly in on time. Monday no game and at home Tuesday vs Vegas. |

You think they throw him in the deep end right away at 2C or start him at 3C?

I don’t understand the hate for this trade! I was a Schmaltz guy but we got two prospects back. Schmaltz is still a prospect who has done nothing away from Kane. Perlini is 22 I don’t he is a finished product. Assume he has some skill he was 12th overall in wait 2014 same year as Schmaltz.
Strome is the wild card. If he can improve his skating this trade is one of the best the Hawks have ever made. It is also AZ that organization is trash. If Strome has the desire to be a really good NHL player the Hawks have the trainers and staff in place. Look at DCat. One off season with the hawks staff and he’s is noticeably stronger on the puck and has more jump and explosiveness to his game.
Clearly Schmaltz lacks the desire so far to be a really good player. If he dedicated an off-season or two to stay and work with the Hawks staff no reason he hasn’t gotten stronger.
In his 2nd full season he still looks very winded at the end of shifts. That’s a lack of conditioning and strength training in the offseason.

Hawks taking a gamble. Time will tell if it pays off, but for now we traded a player from our top 6 for two guys who were 3rd/4th liner minutes for the Yotes. Two bodies coming in pushes someone else out of the lineup. Don't think this will be any immediate help to the team, but they gained some size. I half wonder if this is related to contract talks with Schmaltz more than anything else. |

Gm's are buddies, Stan has made trades mostly with Car, Mtl, Ari, and Cbj recently. A lot of divisional stuff doesn't happen. The same thought crossed my mind also. I also don't know how much he talks with gm's or about who. He might actually walk away from a lot of bad trades. |

I know some dismiss further prospect talk as mere drivel. The prospects will begin filtering in more so for a.cup of coffee (pending innurie) this seson
So to SELFi. And others who will see and discus
prospects i.am writing to you in particular
I noticed that the floodgates we're closed today - Sunday - I'm the third game in three days for Rockford.
Iwound up not watching or attending the game at The Horizon. But perhaps not coincidentally Carlsson returned to lineup. I have to believe that he along with Dahlstrom is top two call ups.
And regarding earlier posts about the way Boqvist febrlos and is playing defense in mu iir this season....hey otbing so bad a out it. .....it usnuat that if he happens to be lacking in certain knowkedge know how in basic defense coverage when he turns pro, then he will learn it most likely in Rockford. And there is no way Jokiharju and Guys would skate regular shifts with Boqvist also taking a turn. Too much one inexperienced and poor defense
As some of us have been touting though, the day will come when there is much youth on defense.
Remember L Murphy. Old and slow I final years hehung in because he was masterful in playing the angles. The young dmen would do well to emulate. |

McD can deny it all he wants but this team is rebuilding as we speak. Strome and Perlini give them some size and youth up front. Next up to move are guys like AA, Kruger and some of those extra Dmen.
Strome was drafted to score and distribute to wingers that can score - doesn't it make sense to put him between Kane and Debrincat or Saad ? |

I’m in shock and disbelief that Stanley Bowman made a trade to make the Blackhawks a Better hockey team. I (frank)ing love this trade. Schmaltz flies but is soft as cotton and allergic to contact.
Reunite Cat and Strome with Kane or Saad on their wing. Perlini is a perfect 3rd liner with top 6 potential
Well done Stanley. |

I love this trade for the Hawks. I was a Schmaltz fan and believed he could be a top 6 forward on a Playoff team, but something was not clicking here in Chicago. This could be another TT situation where he flourishes with another team with less pressure. Not sure how he's gonna do under Tocchet with how he struggled with Q but time will tell. Wish the kid nothing but the best and hope he gets his big contract out in the desert.
Very excited for the two players the Hawks got in return in this deal. Strome is a very talented and highly regarded prospect since being drafted but has struggled to find his way with AZ for whatever reason. His history with Cat playing with McJesus could lead to some awesome offensive potential here with the Hawks depending on who those two play with. Geard they might play with Kahun with him playing Center and Cat and Strome on the wings. Perlini is a big skilled power forward who can score goals and adds more depth to this team which we desperately need.
I'd like to see
Saad-Toews-Kane
Cat-Kahun-Strome
Fortin-AA-Perlini
